[목회서신] 고난 중에도 꿈꾸는 사람의 지혜 | The Wisdom of a Dreamer, Even During Suffering

하나님은 꿈을 꾸시는 분입니다. 꿈을 통해 천지를 창조하셨습니다. 꿈을 통해 십자가에서 구원의 역사를 이루셨습니다. 성령님은 꿈을 꾸게 하시는 영이십니다. 성령님이 임하시면 사람들은 꿈을 꾸게 됩니다(행 2:17). 하나님은 사명을 맡기실 때 먼저 꿈을 꾸게 하십니다. 꿈과 사명은 연결되어 있습니다. 꿈속에는 사명이 담겨 있습니다. 요셉의 꿈속에 미래가 담겨 있고, 그의 사명이 담겨 있었습니다.

저는 예수님을 믿으면서 꿈을 꾸게 되었습니다. 예수님을 만나기 전까지는 의미 있는 꿈을 꿀 생각을 하지 못했습니다. 예수님과의 만남은 제 생애를 완전히 변화시켜 놓았습니다. 그 이유 중의 하나는 예수님을 통해 새로운 꿈을 꾸게 되었기 때문입니다. 이전에 한 번도 생각해 보지 못했던 꿈을 꾸게 되었기 때문입니다. 저는 꿈꾸는 사람입니다. 또한 꿈을 통해 하나님의 놀라운 능력과 기적을 경험한 사람입니다. 그런 까닭에 꿈의 능력을 알고 있습니다. 꿈의 능력은 꿈꾸는 사람만이 경험할 수 있습니다. 꿈의 능력을 우리가 만나는 사람들에게 전수하기 위해서는 먼저 꿈의 능력을 알고 경험해야 합니다. 제가 경험한 꿈의 능력을 몇 가지 나누고 싶습니다.

첫째, 꿈은 미래를 창조하는 능력입니다. 꿈은 미래지향적입니다. 꿈은 더 나은 미래, 더 밝은 미래, 더 아름다운 미래를 그리는 그림과 같습니다. 아름다운 집을 건축하는 청사진과 같습니다. 이 세상은 꿈꾸는 사람들에 의해 발전해 왔습니다.

둘째, 꿈은 과거를 초월하는 능력입니다. 우리가 살아온 과거를 결코 무시할 수 없습니다. 오늘 우리를 만든 것은 우리의 과거이기 때문입니다. 과거에 배운 교육과 좋은 경험과 지식과 지혜는 아름다운 미래를 창조하는 재료입니다. 문제는 과거의 나쁜 경험들과 상처 때문에 과거의 노예가 되는 것입니다. 어떤 사람은 과거의 성공에 안주해 버리는 사람도 있습니다. 과거의 노예가 되면 미래를 향해 전진할 수 없습니다. 과거에 집착하는 것은 결코 지혜로운 것이 아닙니다. 왜냐하면 과거는 돌이킬 수도, 바꿀 수도 없기 때문입니다. 우리에게 가능한 것은 현재를 통해 미래를 새롭게 창조하는 것입니다. 꿈이 좋은 이유는 꿈을 꿀 때 과거를 떠나 미래를 향해 전진할 수 있기 때문입니다. 꿈은 과거라는 항구를 떠날 수 있는 강력한 능력입니다.

셋째, 꿈은 나이와 환경과 신분을 초월하는 능력입니다. 아담의 후예로 태어난 우리가 제일 잘하는 것이 있다면 탓하는 것입니다. 핑계를 대는 것입니다. 요셉이 애굽에 끌려갈 때 그의 나이 17세였습니다. 그는 종으로 팔려 갔습니다. 그는 애굽에서 국무총리가 될 수 있는 신분이나 학력이나 인맥을 갖지 못했습니다. 하지만 하나님이 주신 꿈이 모든 악조건을 초월하게 만들었습니다. 하나님은 아브라함을 75세에 부르셔서 새 꿈을 꾸게 하셨습니다. 또한 아브라함이 99세가 되었을 때 아들을 낳는 꿈을 심어 주셨습니다. 꿈을 꾸기에 늦은 나이는 없습니다.

넷째, 꿈은 고난을 견디는 능력입니다. 꿈꾸는 사람에게는 고난이 찾아옵니다. 꿈의 크기가 고난의 크기를 결정합니다. 작은 꿈을 꾸면 작은 고난을, 큰 꿈을 꾸면 큰 고난을 만나게 됩니다. 꿈의 크기가 문제의 크기를 결정합니다. 작은 꿈은 작은 문제를, 큰 꿈은 큰 문제를 만나게 됩니다. 하지만 하나님이 우리 마음에 심어주시는 강렬한 꿈은 고난을 견뎌냅니다. 꿈은 문제를 기적을 창조하는 재료로 만듭니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 고난을 낭비하지 않고 선용합니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 고난을 당연하게 받아들입니다. 고난을 통해 비상합니다. 독수리가 폭풍우를 타고 비상하는 것처럼, 꿈꾸는 사람은 고난의 폭풍우를 타고 비상합니다.

다섯째, 꿈은 미래를 준비하는 능력입니다. 큰 꿈과 위대한 꿈은 하루아침에 성취되지 않습니다. 기다리는 중에 때가 찰 때 이루어집니다. 그러므로 꿈꾸는 사람은 기다릴 줄 알아야 합니다. 하지만 기다린다고 꿈이 성취되는 것이 아닙니다. 꿈을 성취하는 기회는 준비된 사람에게 찾아옵니다. 준비되지 않으면 기회가 와도 붙잡지 못합니다. 요셉은 종살이와 옥살이를 하는 중에도 미래를 준비했습니다. 애굽의 언어와 문화와 정치를 배웠습니다. 그는 감옥에서 만난 술 맡은 관원과 떡 맡은 관원들을 잘 섬김으로 미래를 준비했습니다.

하나님이 주시는 꿈은 언제 우리 가슴에 잉태될까요? 저의 경우는 좋은 만남, 좋은 책, 그리고 고통스런 사건을 통해 제 가슴에 잉태되었습니다. 때로는 무시당하고, 왕따당하고, 버림받고, 거절당하는 경험을 통해 꿈을 꾸게 됩니다. 사람은 배가 부르고 등이 따뜻하면 현실에 안주하게 됩니다. 더 이상 꿈을 꾸려고 하지 않습니다. 더 이상 모험하거나 새로운 일에 도전하려고 하지 않습니다. 하나님이 필요할 때 우리에게 고난과 고통과 문제를 허락하시는 까닭은 새 꿈을 꾸도록 자극하기 위해서입니다. 날마다 꿈을 꾸십시오. 고난 중에도 꿈을 꾸십시오. 하나님은 꿈꾸는 자와 믿는 자를 통해 세상을 움직이십니다. 꿈꾸는 자와 믿는 자가 되어 세상을 변화시키는 하나님의 사람이 되시길 빕니다.

The Wisdom of a Dreamer, Even During Suffering

God is a God who dreams. He created the heavens and the earth through dreams. He accomplished the work of salvation on the cross through dreams. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit who makes us dream. When the Holy Spirit comes, people will have dreams (Acts 2:17). When God entrusts his mission, he first makes us dream. Dreams and missions are connected. A dream contains a mission. The future and the mission were contained in Joseph's dream.

I began to dream since I believed in Jesus. Until I met Jesus, I never thought of having a meaningful dream. My encounter with Jesus completely changed my life. One of the reasons is because I had a new dream through Jesus. It is because it gave me a dream I had never considered. I am a dreamer. I also experienced God's amazing power and miracles through dreams. That is why I know the power of dreams. Only dreamers can experience the power of dreams. In order to pass on the power of dreams to the people we meet, we must first know and experience the power. I would like to share some of my experiences with the power of dreams.

First, dreams are the power to create the future. Dreams are future-oriented. A dream is like a picture that paints a better, brighter, and more beautiful future. It's like a blueprint for building a beautiful home. This world has been developed by dreamers.

Second, dreams are the power to transcend the past. We can never ignore the past we have lived through. Because what makes us what we are today is our past. Education, good experience, knowledge, and wisdom learned in the past are the ingredients for creating a beautiful future. The problem is being enslaved to the past because of the bad experiences and hurts in the past. Some people settle for past successes. If you are enslaved to the past, you cannot move forward into the future. Clinging to the past is never wise. Because the past cannot be undone or changed. What we can do is recreate the future through the present. Dreams are good because when you dream, you can leave the past and move forward into the future. Dreams are a mighty power to leave the harbor of the past.

Third, dreams are the power to overcome age, circumstances, and status. Born as descendants of Adam, if there is one thing we do best, it is to blame. It's making excuses. Joseph was 17 years old when he was taken to Egypt. He was sold as a slave. He did not have the status, education, or personal connections to become prime minister in Egypt. However, God’s dream for him made Joseph overcome all adverse conditions. God called Abraham at the age of 75 and gave him a new dream. Also, when Abraham was 99 years old, he instilled in him the dream of having a son. It's never too late to dream.

Fourth, dreams are the power to endure sufferings. Sufferings come to those who dream. The size of your dreams determines the size of your hardships. If you dream small, you will meet small sufferings; if you dream big, you will meet big sufferings. The size of your dreams determines the size of your problems. Small dreams lead to small problems, and big dreams lead to big problems. However, the intense dreams that God plants in our hearts endure suffering. It turns problems into miracle-creating ingredients. A dreamer does not waste their sufferings but makes good use of them. A dreamer takes suffering for granted. They soar through suffering. Just as an eagle soars through the storm, a dreamer soars through the storm of suffering.

Fifth, dreams are the power to prepare for the future. Big dreams and great dreams don't come true overnight. They are fulfilled when the time is full while waiting. Therefore, dreamers must know how to wait. But waiting doesn't mean your dream will come true automatically. Opportunities to achieve dreams come to those who are prepared. If you are not prepared, you will not be able to seize the opportunity even when it comes. Joseph prepared for the future even while serving as a slave and in prison. He learned the language, culture, and politics of Egypt. He prepared for the future by serving the cupbearer and the chief baker, he met in prison, well.

When will the dream that God gives us be conceived in our hearts? In my case, my dream was conceived in my heart through good encounters, good books, and painful events. Sometimes, through the experiences of being ignored, bullied, abandoned, and rejected, we conceive dreams. When people are full and their backs are warm, they become complacent. They don't want to dream anymore. They want no more adventures or new challenges. The reason God necessarily allows suffering, pain, and problems in our lives is to stimulate us to dream new dreams. Dream every day. Dream even in the midst of suffering. God moves the world through dreamers and believers. I hope you become men and women of God who changes the world by becoming a dreamer and a believer.
