[목회서신] 샘 곁에 심기운 나무처럼 | Like a Tree Planted by a Spring

새생명비전교회가 창립 12주년을 맞이했습니다. 하나님은 우리 교회에 지난 12년 동안 차고 넘치는 은혜를 베풀어 주셨습니다. 풍성한 열매를 감출 수 없듯이 하나님의 차고 넘치는 은혜는 감출 수 없습니다. 다윗이 받았던 은혜는 차고 넘치는 은혜였습니다. 그는 “내 잔이 넘치나이다”(시 23:5하)라고 고백했습니다. 하나님의 차고 넘치는 은혜는 어떻게 임하는 것일까요? 그 비밀은 야곱이 사랑하는 아들 요셉에게 베풀어 준 축복 속에 담겨 있습니다. “요셉은 무성한 가지 곧 샘 곁의 무성한 가지라 그 가지가 담을 넘었도다”(창 49:22). 야곱은 요셉이 받은 복에 대해 샘 곁의 무성한 가지라고 말합니다. 요셉이 풍성한 복을 받은 것은 샘 곁에 심겨졌기 때문입니다.

성경에서 말하는 샘은 근원을 의미합니다. 원천을 의미합니다. 그렇다면 근원과 원천은 무엇을 의미하는 것일까요? 하나님을 의미합니다. 하나님은 생수의 근원이십니다(렘 17:13). 샘의 원천이십니다. 지혜로운 사람은 근원을 소중히 여깁니다. 늘 원천에 머물기를 원합니다. 하나님께 심겨진 나무가 되면 환경을 초월해서 결실을 맺게 됩니다. 예레미야는 하나님을 의지하고 의뢰하는 사람이 누리는 복을 물가에 심어진 나무에 비유합니다. “그는 물 가에 심어진 나무가 그 뿌리를 강변에 뻗치고 더위가 올지라도 두려워하지 아니하며 그 잎이 청청하며 가무는 해에도 걱정이 없고 결실이 그치지 아니함 같으리라”(렘 17:8). 하나님께 깊이 뿌리를 내린 사람에게도 가뭄은 찾아옵니다. 고난은 찾아옵니다. 요셉의 생애를 묵상해 보십시오. 그는 많은 고난을 통과한 사람입니다. 하지만 그는 하나님을 신뢰했습니다. 하나님으로부터 능력과 지혜를 공급받았습니다. 그런 까닭에 인생의 가뭄에도 형통할 수 있었습니다.

나무가 샘 곁에 심겼다는 것은 샘에 깊이 뿌리를 내렸다는 것을 의미합니다. 나무가 깊이 뿌리를 내릴 때는 가뭄의 때입니다. 또는 산불이 날 때입니다. 그때 나무는 깊은 곳에 뿌리를 내리고 생수를 공급받습니다. 하나님은 우리가 물 댄 동산처럼 되길 원하십니다. 물 댄 동산의 축복은 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘처럼 되는 것입니다. “여호와가 너를 항상 인도하여 메마른 곳에서도 네 영혼을 만족하게 하며 네 뼈를 견고하게 하리니 너는 물 댄 동산 같겠고 물이 끊어지지 아니하는 샘 같을 것이라”(사 58:11).

생명의 근원 되시는 하나님께 깊이 뿌리를 내리는 것이 왜 중요할까요? 하나님의 샘은 공급이 풍성하기 때문입니다. 하나님께 나오는 사람에게 차별 없이 생수를 나누어 주시기 때문입니다. 또한 공급이 영원히 지속되기 때문입니다. 사람들이 만든 우물은 오래가지 못합니다. 잘 가꾸지 않으면 오물이 가득하게 됩니다. 그래서 우리는 거듭 하나님의 샘으로 돌아가야 합니다. 하나님의 샘에 심겨지면 철을 따라 열매를 맺게 됩니다. “그는 시냇가에 심은 나무가 철을 따라 열매를 맺으며 그 잎사귀가 마르지 아니함 같으니 그가 하는 모든 일이 다 형통하리로다”(시 1:3).

과일은 철을 따라 열매를 맺습니다. 철은 계절을 의미합니다. 우리 인생에도 계절이 있습니다. 하나님을 신뢰하는 사람은 각 계절마다 열매를 맺습니다. 노년에도 결실하게 됩니다. “그는 늙어도 여전히 결실하며 진액이 풍족하고 빛이 청청하니”(시 92:14). 나이가 들었다고 낙심하지 마십시오. 하나님은 나이가 들어도 여전히 결실하는 은혜를 베풀어주십니다. 하나님이 우리에게 베풀어 주시는 생수는 어떤 생수일까요?

첫째, 구원의 생수입니다. “그러므로 너희가 기쁨으로 구원의 우물들에서 물을 길으리로다”(사 12:3). 가장 소중한 생수는 구원의 생수입니다. 구원 속에 하나님의 풍성한 복이 담겨 있습니다. 구원 속에 하나님의 자녀가 되는 복이 담겨 있습니다. 영생의 복이 담겨 있습니다. 하나님의 나라의 상속자가 되는 복이 담겨 있습니다. 둘째, 말씀의 생수입니다. 사람은 떡으로만 사는 것이 아니라 하나님의 모든 말씀으로 살게 되어 있습니다. 말씀의 샘에서 말씀을 지속적으로 공급받는 사람은 복된 사람입니다. 말씀의 생수를 날마다 마시는 사람은 그 영혼이 즐거움을 얻습니다. 영적으로 구김살이 없는 풍성한 삶을 살게 됩니다. 셋째, 보혈의 생수입니다. 성경의 스토리는 어린 양의 보혈의 스토리입니다. 예수님의 보혈은 하나님의 아들의 보혈입니다. 그런 까닭에 예수님의 보혈은 보배로운 피입니다(벧전 1:19). 우리 죄를 정결케 하고, 우리 죄를 없이하는 피입니다.

지혜로운 성도는 하나님의 샘 곁에 뿌리를 내립니다. 하나님의 샘은 주님의 몸 된 교회입니다. 에스겔서에 보면 생수가 성전 문에서 흘러나옵니다(겔 47:1-2). 그 생수를 통해 풍성한 열매를 맺게 됩니다. 신약 시대의 성전은 바로 주님의 몸 된 교회입니다. 지금은 주님의 교회로부터 생수가 흘러나옵니다. 지혜로운 성도는 하나님의 샘을 가까이합니다. 그 샘을 통해 베풀어 주시는 하나님의 은혜를 받아 누리고 나눕니다. 부디 하나님의 샘에 뿌리를 내려 풍성한 은혜를 받아 누리고 나누는 성도님들이 되시길 빕니다.

Like a Tree Planted by a Spring

New Life Vision Church is celebrating its 12th anniversary. God has granted abundant grace on our church over the past 12 years. Just as we cannot hide abundant fruit, we cannot hide God's overflowing grace. The grace that David received was an overflowing grace. He confessed, “My cup overflows” (Psalm 23:5b). How does God's overflowing grace come? The secret is contained in the blessing that Jacob pled for his beloved son Joseph. “Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine near a spring, whose branches climb over a wall” (Genesis 49:22). Jacob says that Joseph was blessed with a fruitful vine near a spring. Joseph received abundant blessings because he was planted near a spring.

A spring in the Bible means a source. It means fountain. So, what do sources and fountain mean? It means God. God is the source of living water (Jeremiah 17:13). He is the fountain of spring. A wise person values ​​the source. He always wants to stay at the fountain. When it becomes a tree planted by God, it transcends the environment and bears fruit. Jeremiah compares the blessings of those who depend and trust in God to a tree planted by the waters. “He will be like a tree planted by the waters, which stretches out its roots by the river, and does not fear when the heat comes; its leaves are green, and there is no worry in a year of drought, and it does not cease to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:8). Even those who have deeply rooted in God will experience drought. Suffering comes. Meditate on the life of Joseph. He is a man who has gone through many hardships. But he trusted God. He was supplied with power and wisdom from God. That is why he was able to prosper even in the drought of life.

When a tree is planted by a spring, it means that it is deeply rooted in the spring. It is a time of drought when trees take deep roots. Or when there is a wildfire. At that time, the tree takes root in the depths and is supplied with living water. God wants us to be like a well-watered garden. The blessing of a well-watered garden is to be like a fountain that never runs out of water. "The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden; like a spring whose waters never fail" (Isaiah 58:11).

Why is it important to be deeply rooted in God, the source of life? Because the fountain of God is abundant in supply. This is because living water is given to those who come to God without discrimination. And because the supply lasts forever. Man-made wells do not last long. If you don't take good care of it, it will be full of filth. So we must return to the fountain of God again and again. If we are planted in the fountain of God, we will bear fruit in season. "He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers" (Psalm 1:3).

The fruit bears fruit according to the season. There are seasons in our lives too. Those who trust in God bear fruit in season. They will bear fruit even in old age. “They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green” (Psalm 92:14). Don't be discouraged by your age. God still gives us the grace to bear fruit even when we are old. What kind of water is the living water that God gives us?

First, it is the living water of salvation. “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:3). The most precious living water is the living water of salvation. God's abundant blessings are contained in salvation. The blessing of becoming a child of God is contained in salvation. It contains the blessings of eternal life. It contains the blessing of becoming an heir of the kingdom of God. Second, it is the living water of the Word. Man does not live by bread alone, but by all the words of God. Blessed are those who are continuously supplied with the Word from the fountain of the Word. Those who drink the living water of the Word daily find joy in their souls. They will live a life of spiritually abundant, wrinkle-free life. Third, it is the living water of precious blood. The story of the Bible is the story of the blood of the Lamb. The blood of Jesus is the blood of the Son of God. That is why the blood of Jesus is precious (1 Peter 1:19). It is the blood that purifies and takes away our sins.

A wise saint takes his root down by the fountain of God. The fountain of God is the Church, the body of the Lord. In the book of Ezekiel, living water flows out of the temple gate (Ezekiel 47:1-2). We will bear abundant fruit through the living water. The temple in the New Testament era is the Church, the body of the Lord. Now living water flows from the Lord's Church. A wise believer draws near to the fountain of God. We receive, enjoy, and share the grace of God given through the spring. I pray that you will become believers who will take root in the fountain of God, receive abundant grace, enjoy it, and share it.
