[목회서신] 아는 만큼 보게 됩니다! | You Will See as Much as You Know!

하나님은 지식을 소중히 여기십니다. 하나님은 지식의 하나님이십니다(삼상 2:3). 성령님은 지식의 영이십니다(사 11:2). 예수님 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 감추어져 있습니다. “그 안에는 지혜와 지식의 모든 보화가 감추어져 있느니라”(골 2:3). 저는 모르는 것이 많았기 때문에 지식에 대한 관심을 갖고 살아왔습니다. 모르는 것을 안다는 것은 정말 즐거운 일입니다. 이전에 몰랐던 것을 안다는 것, 희미하게 알고 있었던 것을 선명하게 안다는 것은 참으로 즐거운 일입니다.

하나님은 “지식이 없으면 망한다”고 말씀합니다. “내 백성이 지식이 없으므로 망하는도다”(호 4:6). 반면에 지식은 우리를 부요케 합니다. “또 방들은 지식으로 말미암아 각종 귀하고 아름다운 보배로 채우게 되느니라”(잠 24:4). 베이컨은 “아는 것이 힘이다”고 말했습니다. 지식 있는 사람은 힘을 갖게 됩니다. “지식 있는 자는 힘을 더하나니”(잠 24:5). 지식은 모든 문을 열어 주는 열쇠입니다. 남이 모르는 것을 알고 있는 사람에게는 열린 문이 기다리고 있습니다. 벤 카슨은 “지식은 모든 문을 열어주는 열쇠이다. ... 사람들이 필요로 하는 지식을 가졌다면 사람들은 여러분을 멸시하지 않고 여러분의 진로를 개척해 줄 것이다”라고 말했습니다. 지식에 대해 묵상하는 중에 깨달은 것들을 몇 가지 나누고 싶습니다.

첫째, 아는 만큼 자유케 됩니다. 예수님은 “진리를 알지니 진리가 너희를 자유롭게 하리라”(요 8:32)고 말씀합니다. 무지는 어두움입니다. 어두움 속에 있으면 볼 수가 없습니다. 무지는 우리 눈을 어둡게 하고, 마음을 어둡게 합니다. 그래서 두려움 속에 살게 됩니다. 반면에 지식은 어두움을 밝히는 빛과 같습니다. 빛이 임하면 어두움은 사라집니다. 두려움은 사라집니다. 길이 보입니다. 자유를 경험하게 됩니다.

둘째, 아는 만큼 성장하게 됩니다. 올바로 알아야 올바로 자랍니다. 가장 소중한 지식은 예수님을 아는 지식입니다. 예수님을 아는 것은 지식의 근본을 아는 것이요, 지식의 원천을 아는 것입니다. 우리가 영적으로 성장하기 위해서는 예수님을 믿고 예수님을 알아야 합니다. 그래야 예수님의 장성한 분량에까지 성장할 수 있습니다. “우리가 다 하나님의 아들을 믿는 것과 아는 일에 하나가 되어 온전한 사람을 이루어 그리스도의 장성한 분량이 충만한 데까지 이르리니”(엡 4:13).

셋째, 아는 만큼 보게 됩니다. 유홍준 교수님은 그의 명저 《나의 문화유산 답사기》 제1권에서 “아는 것만큼 보인다”는 유명한 말을 남겼습니다. “아는 것만큼 보인다”는 것은 모든 것에 적용됩니다. 하지만 문화재나 골동품 즉 예술작품은 아는 것만큼 보게 됩니다. 같은 그림을 보고도 그림을 아는 사람과 그림을 모르는 사람은 보고 깨닫는 것이 다릅니다. 보고 말하는 것이 다릅니다. 우리는 아는 것만큼 보고, 보는 것만큼 표현하게 됩니다. 같은 음악을 듣고도 음악에 대해 아는 사람은 남이 듣지 못한 것을 듣게 되고, 그 들은 것을 표현하게 됩니다.

넷째, 아는 만큼 얻게 됩니다. 우리 삶을 부요케 하는 것은 지식입니다. 사람을 얻으려면 사람을 알아야 합니다. 사람을 알지 못하고 사람을 얻을 수 없습니다. 사람을 얻어야 사람을 키울 수 있고, 사람을 키워야 사람을 남길 수 있습니다. 물질도 마찬가지입니다. 돈의 속성을 알고, 돈의 흐름을 알아야 돈을 얻게 됩니다. 아는 만큼 얻고, 아는 만큼 누리게 되어 있습니다. 알지 못하면 누리지 못합니다. 국제선 여행기표를 구입할 때 그 안에는 식사비가 포함되어 있습니다. 만약 그 사실을 모른다면 식사를 누릴 수가 없습니다.

다섯째, 아는 만큼 문제를 잘 해결하게 됩니다. 인생은 문제의 연속입니다. 하지만 문제를 해결할 수 있는 지식이 있다면 문제를 해결하는 것은 즐거움이 될 수 있습니다. 아는 만큼 우리는 문제의 원인을 분별할 수 있습니다. 문제의 원인을 분별하게 되면 문제의 해결책을 찾는 것은 그렇게 어려운 일이 아닙니다. 아는 만큼 우리는 선택을 잘하게 되고 더 나은 결정을 하게 됩니다. 우리가 직면한 모든 문제의 해결책을 다 소유할 수는 없습니다. 그때 중요한 것은 우리가 직면한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 지식을 소유한 사람을 알아보고, 찾아가는 것입니다.

아는 것이 중요한 까닭은 우리가 아는 만큼 다른 사람을 도울 수 있기 때문입니다. 또한 우리가 아는 만큼 우리가 알고 있는 것을 전수할 수 있기 때문입니다. 아는 일에 관심을 가지십시오. 알기 위해서는 지속적으로 학습해야 합니다. 지속적으로 배워야 합니다. 날마다 성경을 읽고, 좋은 책을 읽어야 합니다. 책 속에 보배 같은 지식이 담겨 있습니다. 많이 아는 것보다 꼭 필요한 것을 아는 것이 중요합니다. 아는 것을 삶에 적용하는 것이 중요합니다. 아는 것을 통해 다른 사람을 섬기는 것이 중요합니다. 더욱 중요한 것은 자신이 아직도 모르는 것이 많다는 겸손한 태도가 중요합니다. 그때 우리는 지속적으로 배우고 성장할 수 있습니다.

You Will See as Much as You Know!

God values ​​knowledge. God is God of knowledge (1 Samuel 2:3). The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of knowledge (Isaiah 11:2). All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus. "In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3). Because there were many things I didn't know, I had an interest in knowledge. It's really a delight to know what you don't know. It is enjoyable to know what you did not know before, to know clearly what you knew dimly.

God says we will perish without knowledge. "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). On the other hand, knowledge makes us rich. "Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures" (Proverbs 24:4). Sir Francis Bacon said, "knowledge is power." A knowledgeable person has power. "And those who have knowledge muster their strength." (Proverbs 24:5b). Knowledge is the key that unlocks all doors. An open door awaits those who know what others do not know. Ben Carson said, "Knowledge is the key that unlocks all the doors… if you have knowledge that people need, instead of beating you, they'll beat a path to your door." I would like to share some of the things I have learned while meditating on knowledge.

First, you become free as much as you know. Jesus said, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). Ignorance is darkness. You cannot see in the dark. Ignorance darkens our eyes and darkens our minds. So, we live in fear. On the other hand, knowledge is like a light that illuminates the darkness. When the light comes on, the darkness disappears. Fear disappears. A path appears. You will experience freedom.

Second, you will grow as much as you know. You will correctly grow when you correctly know. The most precious knowledge is the knowledge of knowing Jesus. To know Jesus is to know the root of knowledge and to know the source of knowledge. To grow spiritually, we must believe in Jesus and know Him. Only then can we grow to the full size of Jesus. "Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13).

Third, you see as much as you know. Professor Hong-Jun Yoo left a famous saying in the first volume of his book, My Cultural Heritage Exploration, "You see as much as you know". "You see as much as you know" applies to everything. This is especially true in cultural assets and antiques or works of art. You only see as much as you know. Those who see the same painting and know the painting and those who don't know the painting see and understand it differently. Seeing first and talking is different. We see as much as we know and express as much as we see. Even after listening to the same music, those who know about music will hear what others have not heard and express what they have heard.

Fourth, you gain as much as you know. It is the knowledge that enriches our lives. To gain people, you need to understand people. You can't gain people without understanding people. You can grow people when you gain people; you can send people when you grow people. The same goes for materials. You need to know the properties of money and know the flow of money to gain money. We gain as much as we know and enjoy as much as we know. Without knowing, one cannot enjoy. When purchasing an international flight ticket, meals are included in the purchase. If you don't know, you can't enjoy the meal.

Fifth, the more you know, the better you solve problems. Life is a series of problems. But solving problems can be enjoyable if you have the knowledge to solve them. As much as we know, we can discern the cause of the problem. Finding a solution to a problem isn't that difficult once you know the cause of the problem. The more we know, the better we make choices, and the better we make decisions. We cannot have all the solutions to all the problems we face. The important thing then is to realize and find someone who has the knowledge to solve the problems we face.

Knowing is important because we can help others as much as we know. And because we can pass as much as we know. So pay attention to what you know. To know, you have to keep learning. You have to keep learning. Daily read the Bible and read a good book. There is a treasure trove of knowledge contained in books. It's more important to know what you need than it is to know a lot. It is important to apply what you know to your life. It is important to serve others through what you know. More importantly, it is important to have a humble attitude that there are many things you still don't know. Then we can continue to learn and grow.
