사랑한다는 것은 상처를 주고받는 것입니다. 사랑하면 상처를 받습니다. 사랑하면 연약해집니다. 그런 까닭에 사랑하는 동안 쉽게 상처를 받게 됩니다. 상처가 없는 사랑은 없습니다. 상처 없는 사랑은 진정한 사랑이 아닙니다. 사랑은 우리를 연약하게 만들고, 우리를 예민하게 만듭니다. 사랑하면 우리 마음이 열립니다. 오감이 깨어납니다. 그래서 사랑하게 되면 온몸으로 듣고, 온몸으로 느끼게 됩니다. 사랑은 우리를 기쁘게 만듭니다. 황홀하게 만듭니다. 사랑은 능력입니다. 사랑하면 이전에 경험하지 못한 능력을 경험하게 됩니다. 사랑하면 사람이 변합니다. 사랑하기 전과 사랑한 후는 같은 사람이지만 다른 사람입니다.

사랑한다는 것은 위대한 것입니다. 사랑한다는 것은 희생하는 것입니다. 참된 사랑은 상대방을 위해 우리 자신을 희생하는 것이며, 내어주는 것입니다. 상대방을 위해 스스로 약해지는 것입니다. 사랑하면 이기려고 하지 않습니다. 사랑은 지는 것이며, 져 주는 것입니다. 사랑은 세우는 것이며, 사랑은 살리는 것입니다. 사랑은 과거를 치유하는 거룩한 약입니다.

사랑은 고통스럽습니다. 사랑하면 가슴앓이를 하게 됩니다. 사랑하면 관심을 갖게 됩니다. 사랑하면 눈이 열립니다. 이전에 보지 못했던 것을 보게 됩니다. 사랑하면 시인이 됩니다. 이전에 전혀 사용하지 않았던 언어를 사용하게 되고, 표현하게 됩니다. 사랑하면 시집을 읽게 됩니다. 음악을 듣게 됩니다. 사랑하면 감수성이 풍부해집니다. 사랑은 나이를 초월합니다. 인종을 초월합니다. 환경을 초월합니다. 그래서 사랑은 강한 힘이며, 끝까지 견디고 버티는 용사와 같습니다.

하지만 잘못된 사랑을 경험하면 깊은 상처를 경험합니다. 미숙한 사랑을 경험하면 실망하게 됩니다. 잘못된 사랑은 폭력이며, 학대가 될 수 있습니다. 그런 까닭에 우리는 성숙한 사랑을 배워야 합니다. 성숙한 사랑을 경험해야 합니다. 성숙한 사랑을 배울 수 있는 곳은 십자가입니다. 십자가에서 우리를 사랑하셔서 자기 몸을 내어주신 예수님을 통해 사랑을 배울 수 있습니다.

예수님은 상처받기 위해 오셨습니다. 예수님의 상처가 아니면 우리 죄는 용서 받을 수 없습니다. 예수님의 상처에서 흘러나온 예수님의 보혈 때문에 우리 죄는 용서받았습니다(요일 1:7). 죄의 종으부터 자유케 되었습니다. 대속(代贖)의 은혜를 받게 되었습니다(엡 1:7; 벧전 1:18-19). 예수님의 상처가 우리 상처를 치유합니다. 사랑 때문에 받은 상처는 더 큰 사랑을 통해 치유됩니다. 이 세상의 어떤 상처도 예수님의 사랑보다 클 수 없습니다. 예수님의 사랑은 크고 위대하고 아름답고 고상하고 압도적입니다. 예수님의 사랑은 무한합니다. 한결같습니다. 공급에 제한이 없습니다. 예수님의 사랑은 무조건적입니다. 우리의 반응과 상관없이 무조건적으로 사랑하십니다.

예수님의 선하심과 사랑을 맛보면 결코 잊을 수 없습니다(시 34:8). 맛을 본다는 것은 온 몸으로 경험한다는 것입니다. 머리로 아는 것이 아닙니다. 오감으로 경험하는 것입니다. 몸으로 경험한 것, 오감으로 경험한 것은 우리 뇌리에 새기게 됩니다. 가장 아름다운 추억은 사랑의 추억입니다. 예수님의 사랑은 추억으로만 남지 않습니다. 날마다 밀려오는 파도처럼 우리에게 계속해서 다가옵니다. 우리가 할 일은 예수님의 사랑을 향해 마음의 문을 여는 것입니다. 예수님의 사랑을 인식하는 것입니다. 예수님의 사랑을 환대하는 것입니다.

무엇이든 관심을 갖게 되면 그 대상이나 주제가 크게 느껴집니다. 집중하면 커집니다. 궁수가 목표물에 집중하면 처음에 점처럼 느껴졌던 목표물이 바위처럼 커집니다. 그때 명중할 수가 있습니다. 예수님의 사랑에 관심을 갖도록 하십시오. 예수님의 사랑에 관심을 가질 때 그 사랑을 날마다 경험할 수 있습니다. 하나님은 성령님을 통해 예수님의 사랑을 우리 마음에 부어주십니다(롬 5:5). 날마다 그리스도의 차고 넘치는 사랑을 공급해 주십니다. 마음을 활짝 열고 그 사랑을 받아 누리십시오.

하나님의 사랑을 공급받을 때 고난과 시련과 역경을 이겨낼 수 있습니다. 자신을 초월해서 가족과 이웃을 사랑하게 됩니다. 사랑이 사랑을 낳습니다. 예수님의 상처가 우리 상처를 치유합니다. 상처가 상처를 위로합니다. 상처가 상처를 빛나게 만듭니다. 예수님의 상처가 우리의 상처를 치유해서 영광스럽게 만듭니다. 상처가 치유되면 그 상처는 저주가 아니라 영광이 됩니다. 상처가 치유되면 독 나무가 아니라 향나무가 됩니다. 찍혀도 찍혀도 향을 발하는 향나무가 됩니다. 자신을 찍는 도끼에 향을 묻혀주는 것이 향나무입니다. 흉기를 향기로 바꿔 주는 것이 향나무입니다.

장미꽃 향수는 가장 추운 새벽 시간에 만들어집니다. 장미꽃이 향기가 되기 위해서는 상처를 받아야 합니다. 으깨어지고 짓밟혀야 합니다. 예수님은 짓밟힌 장미꽃처럼 십자가에서 죽으셨습니다. 우리는 예수님의 십자가를 사랑합니다. 그 이유는 예수님의 십자가는 하나님이 우리를 사랑하신 현주소이기 때문입니다. 예수님이 우리를 위해 사랑의 피를 흘리신 곳이기 때문입니다. 고난 주간에 예수님의 사랑을 깊이 묵상하십시오. 그 상처에서 흘러나오는 예수님의 보혈을 묵상하며 감사하십시오. 우리 대신 십자가에서 상처받으신 예수님, 사랑합니다!

Jesus' Wounds Heal Us!

To love means to give and receive wounds. Love brings hurt. Love makes us vulnerable. Therefore, during love, we easily get hurt. There is no love without wounds. A love without wounds is not true love. Love makes us fragile and sensitive. When we love, our hearts open up. Our senses awaken. Thus, when we fall in love, we listen with our whole body and feel with our whole body. Love makes us joyful. It exhilarates us. Love is power. When we love, we experience abilities we have not felt before. Love changes people. The person before and after love is the same, yet different.

To love is something great. To love is to sacrifice. True love means sacrificing ourselves for the other, giving of ourselves. For the other, we become weaker. When we love, we do not seek to win. Love is about losing, about yielding. Love builds up, love revives. Love is a holy medicine that heals the past.

Love is painful. When we love, our hearts ache. Love brings concern. Love opens our eyes. We begin to see what we did not see before. Love turns us into poets. We begin to use and express languages we have never used before. Love leads us to read poetry. To listen to music. Love enriches our sensitivity. Love transcends age, race, and environment. Therefore, love is a strong force, like a warrior who endures and perseveres to the end.

But, experiencing the wrong love can lead to deep wounds. Immature love leads to disappointment. The wrong love can become violence, can become abuse. Therefore, we must learn mature love. We must experience mature love. The place where we can learn mature love is the cross. We can learn love through Jesus who loved us on the cross and gave His body for us.

Jesus came to be wounded. Without Jesus' wounds, our sins could not be forgiven. Because of the blood that flowed from Jesus' wounds, our sins have been forgiven (1 John 1:7). We have been freed from the slavery of sin. We have received the grace of redemption (Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19). Jesus' wounds heal our wounds. The wounds received because of love are healed through greater love. No wound in this world can be greater than Jesus' love. Jesus' love is vast, magnificent, beautiful, noble, and overwhelming. Jesus' love is infinite. It is constant. It has no limit to its supply. Jesus' love is unconditional. He loves unconditionally, regardless of our response.

When we taste Jesus' goodness and love, we cannot forget it (Psalm 34:8). To taste means to experience with our whole body. It is not just knowing in our heads. It is experiencing with all our senses. What we experience with our body and senses is etched into our memory. The most beautiful memories are those of love. Jesus' love does not just remain a memory. It comes to us like waves that keep crashing in, day after day. Our task is to open the door of our hearts to Jesus' love. To recognize Jesus' love. To welcome Jesus' love.

Whatever we take an interest in feels magnified. When we focus, it grows. When an archer concentrates on the target, what felt like a dot becomes as big as a rock, making it possible to hit the mark. Take interest in Jesus' love. When we are interested in Jesus' love, we can experience that love every day. God pours Jesus' love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). He supplies us daily with the overflowing love of Christ. Open your heart wide and receive and enjoy that love.

When we receive God's love, we can overcome trials, tribulations, and adversities. We transcend ourselves to love our families and neighbors. Love begets love. Jesus' wounds heal our wounds. Wounds console wounds. Wounds make wounds shine. Jesus' wounds heal our wounds and make them glorious. When wounds are healed, they are not curses but glories. When healed, they are not poisonous trees but fragrant trees. They become fragrant trees that emit fragrance even when cut. The fragrant tree gives fragrance to the axe that cuts it. It is the fragrant tree that turns weapons into fragrance.

Rose perfume is made in the coldest time before dawn. For the rose to become fragrance, it must be wounded. It must be crushed and trampled. Jesus died on the cross like a trampled rose. We love Jesus' cross. The reason is that Jesus' cross is the current address of God's love for us. It is the place where Jesus shed His blood of love for us. During Passion Week, deeply meditate on Jesus' love. Meditate and give thanks for the blood of Jesus that flows from those wounds. Jesus, who was wounded on the cross for us, we love you!
