[목회서신] 화살기도는 천국 직통 전화입니다! | Arrow Prayer is the Hotline to Heaven!

기도는 신비의 영역입니다. 그런 까닭에 우리는 일평생 기도를 배워야 합니다. 예수님은 이 땅에 사시는 동안 기도하는 삶을 사셨습니다. 예수님은 지금도 하나님 보좌 우편에서 우리를 위해 기도하고 계십니다(롬 8:34). 예수님은 제자들에게 기도를 가르쳐 주셨습니다(눅 11:1-4). 예수님은 기도 응답의 약속을 주셨습니다(요 14:13-14). 성령 하나님도 기도하십니다. 성령님은 우리 안에서 말할 수 없는 탄식으로 기도하고 계십니다(롬 8:26-27). 바울은 항상 성령님 안에서 기도하라고 말씀합니다(엡 4:30). 기도는 성삼위 하나님의 교제 속으로 들어가는 거룩한 일입니다.

우리가 기도할 때 하나님은 귀를 기울이십니다. 우리는 언제 어디서나 기도할 수 있습니다. 또한 다양한 기도를 드릴 수 있습니다. 제가 나누고 싶은 기도 중의 하나는 화살기도입니다. 프랭크 루박은 그의 책 《돕는 기도》에서 화살기도를 가르쳐줍니다. 우리 민족은 활을 잘 쏘는 민족입니다. 올림픽 경기 종목 가운데 양궁이 있습니다. 양궁은 서양식으로 만든 활입니다. 그 활로 겨루는 경기를 양궁이라고 말합니다. 우리나라는 올림픽 경기 때마다 양궁에서 금메달을 받곤 합니다. 화살기도는 과녁을 향해 화살을 당기는 것처럼 기도하라는 것입니다. 프랑크 루박은 자신을 감추고, 기도가 필요한 분들에게 화살을 쏘는 것처럼 은밀히 화살기도를 드리라고 말합니다.

당신이 일을 하거나 공부를 하거나 몹시 피곤할 때 거리로 나가 사람들을 위해 화살기도를 해 보라. 하늘로부터 오는 자극으로 당신은 흥분될 것이다. 기도는 두 배로 복을 받는 일이다. 주는 사람이나 받는 사람 모두에게 복을 주기 때문이다. 당신이 정말 유익하고 격려가 되는 경험을 하고 싶다면, 하루 시간을 내어 자신의 신분을 숨긴 채 버스나 전차를 타고 다니며 사람들에게 한 사람씩 강하고 빠른 화살기도를 한 후 어떤 결과가 나타는지 보라. (프랭크 루박, 『돕는 기도』, 103쪽)

저도 수시로 화살기도를 드리곤 합니다. 어디서든지 떠오르는 분이 있으면 그 분을 위해 화살기도를 드립니다. 성도님들 가운데 수술을 받거나 힘든 분들이 있으면 화살기도를 드립니다. 또한 중보기도가 필요한 분들이 있으면 화살기도를 드립니다. 긴급히 해결해야 할 문제가 있으면 화살기도를 드립니다. 위기에 처했을 때 화살기도를 드립니다.

화살기도는 언제 어디서나 드릴 수 있습니다. 언제 어디서나 생각나는 사람이 있으면 화살기도를 드리십시오. 또한 길을 가다가 위기에 처한 사람을 만나면 그를 위해 화살기도를 드리십시오. 자녀들이 학교에 갔을 때 자녀들을 위해 화살기도를 드리십시오. 우리가 화살기도를 드릴 때 하나님은 바로 역사하십니다. 하나님은 시간과 공간을 초월해서 역사하시는 분입니다. 우리 기도는 시간과 공간을 초월해서 하나님의 응답을 받습니다. 화살기도를 통해 우리는 하나님이 우리 기도에 신속히 응답하시는 것을 경험하게 됩니다. 물론 어떤 기도는 수개월, 수십년 만에 응답될 수도 있습니다. 하지만 어떤 기도는 즉각 응답되기도 합니다. 화살기도는 하나님 아버지께 바로 연결되어 있는 직통(直通)전화와 같습니다.

프란시스 가드너 헌터는 《직통기도로, 직통응답을!》이란 책을 썼습니다. 그는 기도의 사람입니다. 그는 기도하는 중에 하나님이 때로 즉각적으로 응답할 때가 있음을 경험했습니다. 이 책의 영어 제목은 《Hot Line to Heaven》입니다. 우리 말로 번역하면 “천국 직통 전화”입니다. 직통 전화는 언제나 서로 연결이 가능한 전화를 의미합니다. 정부 수뇌들의 직통 전화를 핫라인이라고 부릅니다. 또한 생명의 전화를 의미하기도 합니다. 긴급 전화 911도 핫라인에 속합니다. 우리는 하나님의 자녀입니다. 하나님 아버지와 우리는 언제든지 연결되어 있습니다. 대통령과 아무나 통화할 수 없습니다. 하지만 대통령의 자녀들은 언제나 그리고 어디서나 전화가 가능합니다. 전능하신 하나님은 세상의 대통령과 감히 비교할 수 없는 분입니다. 그 분이 바로 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지가 되십니다. 그런 까닭에 우리는 언제든지 하나님 아버지께 직통 기도를 드릴 수 있습니다. 화살기도가 바로 하나님께 드리는 직통기도입니다.

화살기도는 911 핫라인 중보기도와 같습니다. 우리 교회는 중보기도팀이 있습니다. 긴급한 기도 제목을 올리면 기도 제목을 받는 순간 중보기도자들이 화살기도를 드립니다. 또한 밤 9시에 911중보기도팀이 기도를 드립니다. 한 사람이 화살기도를 드리는 것과 수많은 사람이 함께 화살기도를 드리는 것과는 큰 차이가 있습니다. 한 사람이 화살기도를 드리는 것과 수백명, 그리고 수천명이 함께 기도를 드리는 것은 엄청난 차이가 있습니다. 어디에서나 무시로 화살기도를 드리십시오. 하나님이 어떻게 화살기도에 응답하시는지 경험해 보십시오.

Arrow Prayer is the Hotline to Heaven!

Prayer is a mysterious realm. That is why we must learn how to pray throughout our lives. Jesus lived a life of prayer while living on this earth. Jesus is still praying for us at the right hand of God's throne (Romans 8:34). Jesus taught his disciples how to pray (Luke 11:1-4). Jesus gave the promise of answering our prayers (John 14:13-14). God, the Holy Spirit, also prays. The Holy Spirit is praying for us with groans (Romans 8:26-27). Paul always tells us to pray in the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). Prayer is a holy work that allows us to enter into the fellowship of the Triune God.

When we pray, God listens to us. We can pray anytime, anywhere. We can also offer a variety of prayers. One of the prayers I want to share is the arrow prayer. Frank Laubach teaches about arrow prayer in his book, “Prayer: The Mightiest Force in the World.” Korean people are good at shooting archery. Archery is one of the Olympic sports. Archery is a Western-style bow. The competition with that bow is called archery. Korean players usually win gold medals in archery at every Olympic Games. Arrow prayer means to pray as if you were pulling an arrow toward the target. Frank Laubach tells us to hide ourselves and secretly flash prayers to those in need, as if we are shooting arrows.

“When you are utterly tired from work or from your studies, walk out into the street and flash prayers at people. Your nerves will tingle with the inflow from heaven. Prayer is twice blest. It blesses him that gives and him that receives. If you want an experience full of profit and stimulus, take a day off and ride on the buses or street cars of your city, as you flash strong fast prayers at people one by one, and note what kind of results appear.” (Frank Laubach, “Prayer: The Mightiest Force in the World,” pp. 58-59)

I also pray the arrow prayer from time to time. Wherever there is someone who comes to mind, I flash prayers for him. If any of the congregants are undergoing surgery or having a hard time, I flash prayers for them. Also, if there are people who need intercession, I flash prayers for them. If there is an urgent problem to be solved, I flash prayers regarding the problem. When I am in crisis, I flash prayers.

Arrow prayer can be offered anytime, anywhere. If you think of anyone, anywhere, or anytime, pray the arrow prayer. Also, if you meet someone in crisis on the way, pray the arrow prayer for them. When your children go to school, pray the arrow prayer for them. When we use the arrow prayer, God works right away. God is the one who works beyond time and space. Our prayers transcend time and space to be answered from God. Through the arrow prayer, we can experience God's quick answers to our prayers. Of course, some prayers may be answered in months or decades. However, some prayers are answered immediately. Arrow prayer is like a hot line directly connected to our Heavenly Father.

Francis Gardner Hunter wrote a book called, “Hotline to Heaven.” He is a man of prayer. He experienced how God sometimes answered immediately, as he prayed. “Hotline to Heaven” is the direct phone line to heaven. Hotlines can be reached at any time. Direct calls from government leaders are called hotlines. It also means the phone line of life. The emergency number, 911, is also a hotline. We are all children of God. We are always connected to our Heavenly Father. Not everyone can speak to the president. But the President's children can call him anytime and anywhere. The Almighty God cannot be compared with the presidents of the world. He is our Heavenly Father. That is why we can always pray directly to our Heavenly Father. Arrow prayer is a direct prayer to God.

Arrow prayer is like our 911 hotline for intercessory prayer. Our church has an intercessory prayer team. When you post an urgent prayer request, the intercessors will offer an arrow prayer as soon as they receive the prayer topics. Also, the 911 intercessory payer team prays at 9 p.m. There is a big difference between one person offering an arrow prayer and a large number of people offering an arrow prayer, together. There is a huge difference between one person offering an arrow prayer and hundreds and thousands of people praying together. Wherever you go, pray arrow prayers at every moment.
