[목회서신] 부활의 기쁜 소식 (2019.04.21)

예수님의 탄생 소식은 큰 기쁜 소식이었습니다(눅 2:10). 그래서 우리는 성탄절을 맞이할 때마다 크게 기뻐합니다. 하지만 성탄의 기쁜 소식은 예수님의 부활을 통해 풍성한 열매를 맺었습니다. 만약 예수님의 부활이 없다면, 예수님의 성탄이 우리에게 큰 기쁨으로 다가올 수 없습니다. 예수님이 이 땅에 태어나신 것은 십자가의 죽으심과 부활을 위해서입니다.

부활의 기쁜 소식은 승리의 기쁜 소식입니다. 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하심으로 사탄의 머리를 치셨습니다(창 3:15). 죄와 사망 권세를 이기셨습니다(골 2:15). 마귀를 물리치셨습니다. 승리의 소식처럼 좋은 소식은 없습니다. 그 중에서도 최상의 승리 소식은 부활을 통한 승리 소식입니다. 승리의 기쁜 소식은 우리가 누리게 될 혜택과 관련되어 있습니다. 전쟁터에 나간 군인들이 승리했다는 소식은 그 승리를 통해 온 백성이 누리게 될 축복과 관련되어 있습니다. 예수님의 부활 승리는 우리가 더 이상 죄와 사망과 사탄의 권세 아래 있지 않게 되었다는 것을 의미합니다. 또한 우리가 이제 흑암의 권세에서 하나님의 사랑의 아들의 나라로 옮겨졌다는 것을 의미합니다(골 1:13). 우리도 장차 예수님과 같은 부활의 영광을 누리게 된다는 것을 의미합니다.

부활의 기쁜 소식은 역전의 소식입니다. 십자가에서 예수님을 못 박아 죽인 사탄은 자신이 승리를 거두었다고 착각했습니다. 하지만 하나님은 십자가 벼랑 끝에서 부활의 역사를 일으키셨습니다. 역전의 드라마를 연출하셨습니다. 사람들의 눈에는 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으실 때 모든 것이 끝난 것처럼 보였습니다. 하지만 하나님은 십자가에서 부활의 영광을 예비하셨습니다. 나무 십자가의 끝자락에 부활의 꽃이 피었습니다. 예수님의 부활을 믿는 우리가 가슴 깊이 새겨야할 원리가 있습니다. 그것은 야구 선수 요기 베라의 말처럼 끝나기 전까지는 끝난 것이 아니라는 사실입니다. 최후의 웃는 자가 최후의 승리자라는 사실입니다. 하나님은 벼랑 끝에서 비상하게 하십니다. 벼랑 끝에서 웃게 하십니다. 하나님은 패배의 끝자락에서 승리를 만들어 내시는 분입니다.

우리는 어떤 상황에서도 쉽게 결론을 내려서는 안 됩니다. 쉽게 포기해서는 안 됩니다. 하나님이 끝났다고 말씀하시기 전까지 끝난 것이 아닙니다. 하나님은 절망의 언덕에서 희망의 집을 짓는 분이십니다. 인간 절망의 끝자락에 하나님의 희망이 시작됩니다. 하나님은 경계선에서 꽃을 피게 하십니다. 하나님은 사람들이 모든 것이 끝났다고 말할 때, 오히려 새롭고 아름다운 일을 다시 시작하시는 분입니다.

부활의 기쁜 소식은 성령님의 능력이 우리 가운데 나타난 소식입니다. 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으실 때 예수님은 하나님 아버지의 버림을 받으셨습니다. 그 고통의 순간에 예수님 곁에 계셨던 분이 성령님이십니다. 성령님은 위로자이십니다. 성령님은 하나님 아버지의 버림을 받으신 예수님 곁을 떠나지 않으시고 예수님을 위로하셨습니다. 또한 성령님은 우리를 구원하시기 위해 독생자를 잠시 버리셔야 하는, 고통스런 하나님 아버지 곁에서 하나님 아버지를 위로하신 분입니다.

성령님은 그 크신 능력으로 죽으신 예수님의 몸에 생명을 불어 넣으셨습니다. 성령님의 능력은 죽으신 예수님을 다시 살리신 능력이십니다(엡 1:19-20). 성령님의 능력은 죽은 예수님의 몸을 부활시키셔서, 부활의 몸으로 변화시키신 능력입니다. 부활하시기 전, 예수님은 인간의 몸을 입고 계셨기에 시간과 공간의 제약을 받으셨습니다. 하지만 부활하신 후에는 시간과 공간을 초월하셨습니다. 순식간에 제자들이 모인 곳에 찾아오시고, 또한 순식간에 그들 곁을 떠나셨습니다. 우리도 예수님처럼 부활의 몸을 입게 되면 시간과 공간을 초월해서 살게 되는 것입니다.

부활의 기쁜 소식은 예수님의 승천소식입니다. 예수님은 부활 후 40일 동안 제자들을 만나 교제하신 후에, 제자들이 보는 앞에서 하늘로 승천하셨습니다(눅 24:50-51). 예수님은 승천하셔서 하나님의 보좌 우편에 앉으셨습니다(히 1:3). 또한 예수님은 하늘의 지성소에 들어가셔서 그의 피로 우리 죄를 영원히 속죄해 주셨습니다(히 9:11-12). 지금 예수님은 하나님 보좌 우편에서 우리를 위해 중보하고 계십니다(롬 8:34; 히 7:25).

부활의 기쁜 소식은 성령 강림의 기쁜 소식입니다. 예수님은 부활 승천하신 후에 성령님을 우리 가운데 보내 주셨습니다. 출애굽 유월절 사건 후, 오십일이 되었을 때 하나님은 모세를 통해 율법을 주셨습니다. 예수님은 유월절 어린 양으로 죽으신 후 오십일이 되었을 때 우리에게 성령님을 보내 주셨습니다(행 2:1-4). 복음은 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하신 것으로 끝난 것이 아닙니다. 복음은 예수님이 승천하셔서 성령님을 보내 주심으로 완성됩니다. 우리가 받은 복음 안에 성령의 약속이 함께 담겨 있습니다(갈 3:14). 부활절을 맞이해서 우리가 받은 부활의 기쁜 소식을 인해 함께 기뻐합시다. 예수님의 제자들처럼 성령님의 능력으로 부활의 증인의 삶을 살도록 합시다(행 1:8). 성도님들, 기뻐하십시오. 예수님이 부활하셨습니다!

Good New of the Resurrection

The news of Jesus' birth was the good news of great joy (Lk 2:10). So we rejoice greatly whenever we celebrate Christmas. However, the good news of Christmas produced abundant fruitfulness through the resurrection of Jesus. Without Jesus' resurrection, Jesus' Christmas could not come to us with great joy. Jesus was born on this earth for the death of the cross and resurrection.

The good news of the resurrection is the good news of victory. Jesus crushed the head of Satan by dying on the cross and resurrecting (Ge 3:15). He defeated the power of sin and death (Col 2:15). He defeated the devil. There is no good news like the news of victory. The best news is the victory through the resurrection. The good news of victory is related to the benefits we get to enjoy. The news of the victory of army on the battlefield is related to the blessings that all the people will enjoy through the victory. Jesus' victorious resurrection means that we are no longer under the power of sin, death, and Satan. It also means that we have now been moved from the dominion of darkness to the kingdom of the Son, whom God loves (Col 1:13). It means that we will also enjoy the glory of the resurrection like Jesus in the future.

The good news of the resurrection is news of the reversal. Satan who crucified Jesus on the cross, deluded himself that he had won the victory. But God made the history of resurrection at the edge of the cliff of the cross. He directed the drama of reversal. In the eyes of men, everything seemed to be over when Jesus died on the cross. But God prepared the glory of resurrection on the cross. The flower of the resurrection bloomed at the edge of the wooden cross. There is a principle that we should be embedded deeply within us to believe in the resurrection of Jesus. “It is not over until it is over” as Yogi Berra, a baseball player, said. It is a fact that the person of the last smile is the last victor. God makes us soar at the edge of the cliff. He makes us laugh at the edge of the cliff. God is someone who produces victory at the end of a defeat.

We should not make conclusions easily at any circumstances. We should not easily give up. It is not over until God says it is over. God is the builder of the house of hope in the hill of despair. God's hope begins at the end of human despair. God blossoms at the boundary. God is the one who starts new and beautiful things again when people say that it is over.

The good news of the resurrection is that the power of the Holy Spirit is revealed in us. When Jesus died on the cross, Jesus was abandoned by Heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit is the one who was beside Jesus in the moment of suffering. The Holy Spirit is a Comforter. The Holy Spirit did not leave Jesus who was abandoned by Heavenly Father, but comforted Jesus. The Holy Spirit is also the one who comforts our Heavenly Father, being beside him, who must give up His only begotten Son to save us.

The Holy Spirit, with his great power, breathed life into the dead body of Jesus. The power of the Holy Spirit is the power to raise Jesus from the dead again (Eph 1:19-20). The power of the Holy Spirit is the power to resurrect the dead body of Jesus and transform it into a resurrected body. Before the resurrection, Jesus was constrained by time and space because he was in a human body. But after the resurrection, he transcended time and space. He came to the place where the disciples were gathered and left them in an instant. If we wear the body of resurrection like Jesus, we will live beyond time and space.

The good news of the resurrection is the news of Jesus' ascension. Jesus had fellowship with his disciples for forty days after the resurrection and ascended to heaven before his disciples’ eyes (Lk 24: 50-51). Jesus ascended and sat at the right hand of God (Heb 1:3). Jesus also entered the heavenly Most Holy Place and atoned for our sins forever with His own blood (Heb 9:11-12). Now Jesus is interceding for us at the right hand of God (Ro 8:34; Heb 7:25).

The good news of the resurrection is the good news of the advent of the Holy Spirit. After the resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit among us. After fifty days from Exodus Passover, God gave them the law through Moses. When it was fifty days after Jesus died as the Passover lamb, he sent us the Holy Spirit (Ac 2:1-4). The gospel does not end with the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross. The gospel is completed when Jesus ascends and sends the Holy Spirit. The promise of the Holy Spirit is contained in the gospel we receive (Gal 3:14). Let us rejoice with the glad tidings of the resurrection we have received as we celebrate Easter. Like the disciples of Jesus, let us live the life of the witness of the resurrection with the power of the Holy Spirit (Ac 1:8). Rejoice, saints. Jesus is risen!
