[목회서신] 말씀과 함께 새롭게 시작하십시오! (2020.01.19)

하나님은 모든 것을 새롭게 하시는 분입니다(계 21:5). 하나님은 새 일을 행하십니다(사 43:19). 새 일을 꿈꾸시고 성취하십니다. 하나님은 새 영과 새 마음을 주십니다(겔 36:26). 새 꿈을 꾸게 하십니다. 새 언약을 주십니다(눅 22:20). 새 생명을 주십니다(롬 6:4). 새 노래를 부르게 하십니다(시 149:1). 하나님이 새 날을 주시고, 새 달을 주시고, 새 해를 주시는 이유는 우리를 새롭게 하기 위해서입니다. 하나님은 새 해에 우리가 새 꿈을 꾸고, 새 목표를 설정하고, 그 목표를 성취하길 원하십니다. 하나님은 새 해에 새 만남을 주심으로 새로운 경험을 하길 원하십니다.

새 만남은 새로운 세계를 열어줍니다. 새로운 배움과 새로운 깨달음과 새로운 관점과 새로운 미래를 열어줍니다. 하나님은 새 해에 새로운 생명들이 태어나길 원하십니다. 새 싹이 돋아나지 않는 숲은 죽어가는 숲입니다. 새로운 학생들이 들어오지 않는 학교는 머지않아 문을 닫게 됩니다. 새 상품과 새 제품과 새 시스템이 개발되지 않은 사업은 흥왕할 수 없습니다. 영적으로 새 생명이 태어나지 않는 교회는 시들어가는 교회입니다. 우리는 성장해야 합니다. 장례 예배를 인도하기 위해 묘지에 가면 묘지도 계속 확장하는 것을 봅니다. 묘지도 확장한다면 살아 있는 교회가 지경을 넓히고 성장을 추구하는 것은 당연합니다. 선교의 지경을 넓혀가는 것은 당연합니다.

예수님의 교회는 살아 역사하는 교회입니다. 살아 있는 모든 것은 생명이 약동합니다. 살아 있는 것은 따뜻합니다. 살아 있는 것은 유연합니다. 죽어가는 것은 차갑고 경직되어 있고 딱딱합니다. 살아 있는 것은 성장합니다. 살아 있는 것은 성숙해 갑니다. 살아 있는 것은 꽃피고 열매를 맺습니다. 살아 있는 것은 배가됩니다. 살아 있는 것은 영향을 끼칩니다. 살아 있는 것은 생명을 공급해 줍니다. 우리는 생존을 넘어 성장해야 합니다. 생존을 넘어 번영해야 합니다. 생존을 넘어 부흥해야 합니다. 생존을 넘어 또 다른 생명을 잉태하고 출산해야 합니다.

하나님이 새 해를 주시는 것은 새롭게 출발하라고 주신 것입니다. 과거를 떠나 과거를 잊어버리고 미래를 향해 전진하라고 새 해를 주신 것입니다. 과거라는 무덤에 꽃다발을 놓지 마십시오. 과거를 화려하게 꾸미는 것은 어리석은 일입니다. 우리가 머물 곳은 지나간 과거가 아닙니다. 다가올 미래입니다. 과거가 우리의 꿈을 좀먹지 않도록 만들어야 합니다. 그러기 위해서는 날마다 새롭게 꿈을 꾸어야 합니다. 날마다 새롭게 시작함으로 희망찬 미래를 향해 전진해야 합니다.

새롭게 시작할 때는 말씀과 함께 시작하십시오. 아브라함이 새롭게 출발할 때 그는 하나님의 말씀과 함께 출발했습니다. 약속의 말씀을 붙잡고 시작했습니다. 예수님이 공생애를 시작하실 때 이사야 61장의 말씀과 함께 시작하셨습니다. 왜 우리가 말씀과 함께 새롭게 시작해야 할까요?

첫째, 말씀은 창조의 능력이기 때문입니다. 하나님은 말씀으로 천지를 창조하셨습니다. 말씀이 임할 때 새로운 창조가 이루어집니다. 우리가 말씀을 읽을 때 말씀이 우리 생각을 새롭게 창조합니다. 우리 언어를 새롭게 창조합니다. 우리는 말씀과 생각과 언어의 관계를 잘 깨달아야 합니다. 말씀이 있기 전에 생각이 있습니다. 그 생각이 말씀으로 선포될 때 그 말씀이 곧 창조의 역사를 이루게 됩니다. 생각이 현실이 되고 물질이 됩니다. 말이 현실이 됩니다. 그런 까닭에 생각하는 것과 말하는 것을 주의해야 합니다. 좋은 생각은 좋은 열매를 맺습니다. 말씀을 읽을 때 우리는 좋은 생각을 품게 됩니다. 그리함으로 좋은 결과를 만들어 냅니다.

둘째, 말씀은 기도의 능력이기 때문입니다. 말씀을 읽을 때 우리는 기도하게 됩니다. 말씀을 통해 하나님을 만나게 됩니다. 하나님을 만날 때 우리는 하나님과 대화하게 됩니다. 하나님의 선하심을 맛보아 알게 됩니다(시 34:8) 기도란 말씀 속에서 하나님을 만나 대화하는 것입니다. 우리는 말씀을 읽는 중에, 말씀 속에서 만난 하나님을 찬양하고, 우리 죄를 고백하고, 또한 감사 기도와 함께 간구의 기도를 드리게 됩니다. 말씀으로 기도한다는 것은 하나님의 언어를 따라 기도한다는 것을 의미합니다. 우리가 하나님의 언어를 따라 기도할 때 하나님은 감동을 받으십니다.

셋째, 말씀은 믿음의 능력이기 때문입니다. 예수님은 믿는 자에게는 능치 못할 일이 없다고 말씀하십니다(막 9:23). 오직 의인은 믿음으로 말미암아 삽니다(롬 1:17). 믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없습니다(히 11:6). 믿음의 선포는 산을 움직입니다(막 11:23). 예수님은 믿음으로 기도할 때 반드시 응답해 주시겠다고 약속하십니다(막 11:24). 그렇다면 어떻게 이토록 소중한 믿음을 키울 수 있을까요? 우리의 믿음은 말씀을 읽고 들을 때 강력해 집니다. 바울은 “믿음은 들음에서 나며 들음은 그리스도의 말씀으로 말미암았느니라”(롬 10:17)고 말합니다. 새 해를 맞이해서 한 해 동안 성경을 통독할 목표를 세우시고 날마다 성경을 읽으십시오. 또한 날마다 성경을 읽고 암송하고 묵상하면서 기도하십시오. 하나님의 놀라운 기적을 경험하게 될 것입니다.

Wisdom Start Anew with The Word!

God renews everything (Revelation 21:5). God does new things (Isaiah 43:19). He dreams and accomplishes new things. God gives us a new spirit and a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26). He makes us dream new dreams. He gives a new covenant (Luke 22:20). He gives a new life (Romans 6:4). He allows us to sing a new song (Psalms 149:1). The reason that God gives us a new day, a new month, and a new year is to refresh us. God wants us to have new dreams, set new goals, and fulfill those goals in the new year. God gives us new encounters in the new year and wants us to have new experiences through them.

New encounters open up a new world. They open up a new future through new learning, new understanding and new perspectives. God wants new lives to be born in the new year. A forest without new sprouts is dying. Schools without new students will soon be closed. A business without new merchandise, new products or new systems cannot succeed. A church where no new life is born, spiritually, is a declining church. We must grow. Whenever I go to the cemetery to officiate a funeral service, I see the cemetery continue to expand. Even if the cemetery expands, it is natural for a living church to expand its territories and seek growth. It is natural to expand the territories of mission.

The church of Jesus is a living and working church. All living things stir life. Living things are warm. Living things are flexible. Dying things are cold, rigid and hard. Living things are growing. Living things become mature. Living things bloom and bear fruit. Living things are doubled. Living things have influence. Living things provide life. We must grow beyond survival. We must prosper beyond survival. We must have revival beyond survival. We must conceive and give birth to another life beyond survival.

God gave us a new year to give us a fresh start. He gave us a new year to leave and forget the past, and move toward the future. Do not put a flower bouquet in the tomb of the past. It is foolish to decorate the past colorfully. Where we should stay is not in the past. It is in the future to come. We must make sure the past doesn't eat away our dreams. To do this, we must dream anew every day. We must move toward a hopeful future by starting anew every day.

When you start anew, start with the Word. When Abraham started anew, he started with the Word of God. He started holding onto the Word of promises. When Jesus began his public life, he began with the Words of Isaiah 61. Why should we start anew with the Word?

First, it’s because the Word is the power of creation. God created the heavens and the earth with the Word. When the Word comes, new creation comes about. When we read the Word, it creates new thoughts. It creates new language. We need to understand the relationship between word, thought, and language well. The thought comes before the word. When the thought is proclaimed as the Word, it becomes the work of creation. The thought becomes reality and matter. The words become reality. That's why you need to be careful about what you think and what you say. Good thoughts produce good fruits. When we read the Word, we will have good thoughts. By this, we will produce good results.

Second, the Word has the power of prayer. When we read the Word, we are led to pray. We meet God through the Word. When we meet God, we communicate with Him. We can taste and know God's goodness (Psalms 34:8). Prayer is talking to God, in the Word. As we read the Word, we praise God we meet in the Word, confess our sins, and offer prayers of supplication with thanksgiving. To pray with the Word means to pray with the language of God. God is moved when we pray in His language.

Third, the Word is the power of faith. Jesus says that nothing is impossible for a believer (Mark 9:23). Only the righteous will live by faith (Romans 1:17). Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). The proclamation of faith moves the mountain (Mark 11:23). Jesus promises to answer us when we pray in faith (Mark 11:24). How can we develop such precious faith? Our faith is strengthened when we read and listen to the Word. Paul says, "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17). In the new year, set a goal to read the Bible throughout the year and read it daily. Also, pray daily by reading, memorizing, and meditating on the Bible. You will experience God's amazing miracles.
