[목회서신] 은서(恩書)를 만난 사람의 행복 | Happiness of Those Who Meet the Life-Changing Books (2020.09.27)

우리에게 가장 필요한 것은 하나님의 은혜입니다. 우리는 혼자 힘으로 살아갈 수 있는 존재가 아닙니다. 누군가의 도움이 필요합니다. 우리에게 필요한 것은 하나님의 도움입니다. 하나님의 도움이 하나님의 은혜입니다. 은혜란 전혀 받을 자격 없는 사람에게 베풀어 주시는 하나님의 호의입니다. 그렇다면 하나님의 은혜는 어떻게 우리에게 임하는 것일까요?

첫째, 하나님은 사람을 통해 은혜를 베풀어 주십니다. 우리가 예수님을 믿고 구원을 받게 된 것도 누군가가 우리에게 복음을 전해 주었기 때문입니다. 사람은 하나님의 은혜가 임하는 통로입니다. 그런 까닭에 우리는 사람을 소중히 여겨야 합니다. 하나님은 우리 인생 여정에서 은인(恩人)을 만나게 해 주심으로 은혜를 베풀어 주십니다. 은인이란 우리에게 은혜를 베풀어 주는 사람입니다. 은인이란 아무런 조건 없이 우리를 도와주는 사람입니다. 은인은 우리를 예쁘게 여겨주는 사람입니다. 존귀하게 여겨주는 사람입니다.

은인은 우리가 잘 되도록 도와주는 사람입니다. 우리가 잘 될 때 더 잘 되도록 힘을 실어주는 사람입니다. 또한 우리가 어려운 일을 당할 때 낙심하지 않도록 격려해 주고 실질적인 도움을 주는 사람입니다. 은인과의 만남은 좋은 만남입니다. 좋은 만남이 찾아오는 것은 은혜입니다. 이 좋은 만남을 지속적으로 가꾸는 것이 지혜입니다.

좋은 만남을 가꾸는 지혜는 겸손에 있습니다. 교만하면 좋은 만남을 지속적으로 가꿀 수 없습니다. 하나님은 겸손한 사람에게 더욱 큰 은혜를 베풀어 주십니다(약 4:6). 은인과의 관계도 마찬가지입니다. 은인은 조건 없이 은혜를 베풀어 주지만 겸손한 사람에게 더 큰 은혜를 베풀어 줍니다. 좋은 만남을 가꾸는 지혜는 감사에 있습니다. 은인이 베풀어 준 은혜를 기억하며 감사하는 것이 지혜입니다. 감사하게 되면 더 좋은 것이, 더 많은 것이 우리를 찾아옵니다. 감사하면 놀라운 기적이 일어납니다.

둘째, 하나님은 좋은 책을 통해 은혜를 베풀어 주십니다. 은인처럼 우리에게 은혜를 베풀어 주는 책을 은서(恩書)라고 합니다. 은서는 좋은 책입니다. 제 삶을 변화시킨 것은 하나님의 은혜와 은인 그리고 은서입니다. 은서를 만나면 우리 인생은 변화됩니다. 새로운 전기를 마련하게 됩니다. 척 콜슨은 그를 위해 기도하던 친구가 전해 준 C. S. 루이스의 《단순한 기독교》를 읽고 예수님을 만났습니다. 예수님을 만난 척 콜슨의 생애는 놀랍게 변화되었습니다.

은서(恩書)란 우리 눈을 열어주는 책입니다. 은서를 만나면 우리 자신의 진면모를 보게 됩니다. 우리 안에 있는 부족한 점도 보지만, 동시에 우리 안에 감춰진 무한한 잠재력을 보게 됩니다. 은서란 우리가 성장하도록 도와주는 책입니다. 우리 안에는 하나님이 심어주신 성장 본능이 있습니다. 성장 본능이 있다고 저절로 성장하는 것이 아닙니다. 성장에 적합한 환경을 만들어 주어야 합니다. 특별히 우리의 지성과 인격과 영적 성장은 자극을 통해 이루어집니다. 은서는 우리가 성장에 관심을 갖도록 자극해 줍니다. 또한 성장할 수 있는 노하우를 알려 줍니다. 또한 지속적인 성장을 위해 성장 목표를 가지고 책을 읽고 배우도록 자극해 줍니다.

은서(恩書)란 우리를 생각하도록 도와주는 책입니다. 생각의 근육을 키우도록 도와주는 책입니다. 은서란 사고력을 증진시켜주는 책입니다. 사고력은 모든 활동의 기초입니다. 올바로 사고하는 능력이 우리 삶을 풍요롭게 합니다. 경제 활동도 사고력을 바탕으로 이루어집니다. 좋은 책 속에 길이 있습니다. 좋은 책은 다양한 사람들을 이해하도록 도와줍니다. 그래서 책 읽는 사람은 사람들과의 관계를 잘 맺습니다. 소통을 잘합니다. 좋은 책은 우리를 바꿔놓습니다. 책을 읽지 않으면 우리 생각이 변화되지 않습니다. 생각의 변화가 없으면 과거의 경험과 아집과 고집 속에 살게 됩니다. 고정 관념에 사로잡혀 살게 됩니다. 책을 읽을 때 우리 생각은 유연해집니다.

셋째, 하나님은 성경을 통해 은혜를 베풀어 주십니다. 제 생애를 바꾼 은서 중의 은서는 성경입니다. 성경 속에는 우리가 살아가는데 필요한 모든 지식과 지혜가 담겨 있습니다. 성경 속에는 행복과 형통의 비밀이 담겨 있습니다. 자녀 양육의 비밀이 담겨 있습니다. 고난을 극복하는 원리가 담겨 있습니다. 영적으로 부요케 되는 지혜가 담겨 있습니다. 경제적으로 부요케 되는 지혜가 담겨 있습니다. 성경에는 기도의 비밀이 담겨 있습니다. 좋은 책을 읽고, 성경을 읽는 사람은 자신의 생애를 진지하게 생각할 줄 아는 사람입니다. 책을 읽는 것은 자신의 미래를 위해 투자하는 것과 같습니다. 가만있으면 아무 일도 일어나지 않습니다. 하지만 성경과 좋은 책을 읽으면 놀라운 변화를 경험하게 됩니다. 한 권의 책을 읽었다고 해서 당장 큰 변화가 나타나지 않을 수 있습니다. 하지만 독서가 지속되고 반복되면 어느 순간에 놀라운 변화를 경험하게 됩니다. 부디 성경과 좋은 책을 통해 하나님의 풍성한 은혜를 받아 누리시길 빕니다.

Happiness of Those Who Meet the Life-Changing Books

What we need most is God's grace. We are not beings that can live on our own. We need someone's help. What we need is God's help. God's help is God's grace. Grace is God's benevolence given to those who do not deserve it. Then, how does God's grace come to us?

First, God gives grace through people. We believed in Jesus and received salvation because someone shared the gospel with us. Man is the channel through which God's grace comes through. That is why we must value people. God gives us grace by allowing us to meet a benefactor in our life's journey. A benefactor is someone who shows us favor. A benefactor is someone who helps us without any conditions. A benefactor is someone who cherishes us. He is a person who values us.

A benefactor is a person who helps us to do well. When we do well, he is the one who empowers us to do better. He is also the one who encourages and provides practical help when faced with difficult challenges. Meeting with a benefactor is a good encounter. It is grace that good encounters come. It is wise to continue cultivating these good encounters.

The wisdom to cultivate good encounters lies in humility. If you are proud, you cannot cultivate good meetings consistently. God gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6). The same goes for a relationship with a benefactor. A benefactor shows grace without condition, but gives greater grace to the humble. The wisdom to cultivate good encounters lies in gratitude. It is wise to remember and thank the benefactor for his grace. When we give thanks, better things will come to us. When we give thanks, amazing miracles will happen.

Second, God gives us grace through good books. The book that gives us grace like a benefactor is called the life-changing books. The life-changing book is a good book. What changed my life was God’s grace, benefactors, and the life-changing books. When we meet the life-changing books, our lives will change. We will have a new turning point. Chuck Colson met Jesus after reading C. S. Lewis's “Mere Christianity,” which was given to him by a friend who was praying for him. Chuck Colson's life was remarkably changed when he met Jesus.

The life-changing book is a book that opens our eyes. When we meet the life-changing book, we can see our true self. We see the shortcomings within us, but at the same time we see the infinite potential hidden within us. The life-changing book is a book that helps us to grow. We have a growth instinct that God planted within us. Just because we have a growth instinct doesn't mean that we will grow on our own. We need to create an environment suitable for growth. Especially for our intellect, character, and spiritual growth which are driven by stimulation. The life-changing book stimulates us to be interested in growth. It also tells us the know-how to grow. It also stimulates us to read and learn with goals for continuous growth.

The life-changing book is a book that helps us to think. It is a book that helps us to build the muscles of thought. The life-changing book is a book that improves thinking skills. Thinking skills are the basis of any activity. The ability to think correctly enriches our lives. Economic activity is also based on thinking skills. There is a road to follow in a good book. Good books help us to understand a variety of people. So, the person who reads books has good relationships with people. He knows how to communicate. Good books change us. If we don't read the book, our thinking won't change. If there is no change of mind, we will live in the past experience, obstinacy, and stubbornness. We will live with stereotypes. When we read, our thinking becomes flexible.

Third, God gives us grace through the Bible. Among the life-changing books that changed my life, the Bible changed me the most. The Bible contains all the knowledge and wisdom we need to live. The secrets of happiness and success is contained in the Bible. It contains the secrets of raising children. It contains the principles of overcoming hardships. It contains the wisdom that will make us spiritually abundant. It contains wisdom that will make us economically abundant. The Bible contains the mystery of prayer. Those who read good books and read the Bible are those who can take their lives seriously. Reading a book is like investing into your own future. If you stay still, nothing will happen. But when you read the Bible and good books, you will experience amazing changes. Because you've read one book does not make a big difference right away. However, as reading continues and repeats, at some point you will experience amazing changes. May you receive and enjoy God's abundant grace through the Bible and good books.
