[목회서신] 신비로운 부활의 기쁨 | The Mysterious Joy of The Resurrection

모국에서 부활절 인사드립니다. 예수님이 부활하셨습니다. 저는 이민목회 41년 만에 처음 공식적인 안식월을 모국에서 보내고 있습니다. 모국은 정말 아름다운 나라입니다. 벚꽃이 활짝 피어났습니다. 목련꽃의 자태도 아름답습니다. 모국 땅을 밟으면 왠지 설렙니다. 제 안에는 모국을 그리워하는 유전자가 있습니다. 마치 우리 모두가 어머니의 자궁을 그리워하는 것과 같습니다. 우리는 모두 어머니의 자궁에서 성장했습니다. 나이가 들어도 가끔 어머니의 자궁에서 머물렀던 모습을 하며 잘 때가 많습니다. 모국은 우리 모두에게 어머니의 자궁 같은 곳입니다. 연어의 모천(母川)과 같은 곳입니다.

연어가 알을 낳고 죽기 위해 모천을 찾는 것처럼 우리 인간의 마음속에는 귀소본능이 있습니다. 그래서 모국을 그리워합니다. 연어는 먼바다에서 살다가 알을 낳기 위해 모천을 찾습니다. 연어는 모천에서 알을 낳은 후에 자신의 몸을 내어 줍니다. 알에서 깨어난 연어 새끼는 자기를 낳아준 어미 연어의 살을 먹고 자랍니다. 어미 연어는 죽은 것이 아니라 자기가 낳은 연어 새끼를 통해 다시 살아나는 것입니다. 이것이 죽음의 신비이며 부활의 신비입니다. 죽음으로 다시 사는 것입니다. 예수님의 부활은 우리 삶의 현장에서 맛볼 수 있습니다.

추운 겨울에 나무는 벌거벗은 채 모든 에너지를 오직 뿌리를 돌보는 데 사용합니다. 추운 겨울 동안에 나무는 안식하며 봄이 되면 공급할 생수를 뿌리에 저장합니다. 추운 겨울이 지나 봄이 오면 뿌리에 저장된 생수와 영양분은 나무 전체로 전달되면서 싹을 틔우고 아름다운 꽃을 드러냅니다. 겨울나무는 나목이 되어 죽은 것처럼 보이지만 죽지 않았습니다. 고요히 뿌리를 돌보고 있다가 따뜻한 봄이 오면 푸른 싹과 아름다운 꽃으로 다시 살아납니다.

예수님은 제자들에게 거듭 십자가에서 죽으시고 사흘 만에 다시 살아나실 것을 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님의 십자가의 죽음과 부활의 말씀을 들은 그들은 심히 근심했습니다. 두려워했습니다. 그들은 예수님의 말씀 가운데 십자가의 죽으심에만 초점을 맞추었습니다. 인생은 초점 맞추기입니다. 제자들은 예수님의 십자가의 죽음에 초점을 맞추었기 때문에 두려워했습니다. 그들은 예수님의 부활의 약속에 초점을 맞추지 않았습니다. 심지어 예수님이 부활하셨다는 소식을 나중에 들었을 때도 제자들은 예수님의 부활을 믿지 않았습니다. “그들은 예수께서 살아나셨다는 것과 마리아에게 보이셨다는 것을 듣고도 믿지 아니하니라”(막 16:11).

제자들의 모습이 사실은 우리의 모습입니다. 우리는 긍정적인 것보다는 부정적인 것에, 가능한 것보다 가능하지 않은 것에 초점을 맞추며 살아갑니다. 믿음과 확신보다는 의심과 회의에 초점을 맞추며 살아갑니다. 하지만 낙심하지 마십시오. 예수님의 부활을 믿고 경험하게 되면 우리의 삶은 변화될 수 있습니다. 예수님의 부활을 경험하고 성령 충만을 경험한 제자들의 삶에 변화가 일어났습니다. 제자들의 삶의 초점이 바뀐 것입니다. 우리의 삶의 초점이 바뀌기 위해서는 예수님의 부활을 경험하고 성령 충만을 받아야 합니다. 그때 우리 삶은 변화를 경험하게 됩니다.

예수님의 부활의 기쁨은 신비로운 기쁨입니다. 부활의 현장을 방문한 여인들이 예수님의 부활소식을 들었을 때 여인들의 감정이 신비롭습니다. 그것은 무서움과 큰 기쁨을 함께 경험한 감정입니다. “그 여자들이 무서움과 큰 기쁨으로 빨리 무덤을 떠나 제자들에게 알리려고 달음질할새”(마 28:8). 예수님의 부활 소식을 들은 여인들이 경험한 큰 기쁨은 어떤 기쁨일까요?

첫째, 회복의 기쁨입니다. 우리는 소중한 것을 상실하기 전까지 그 가치를 잘 모릅니다. 또한 소중한 분을 상실하기 전까지 그분의 소중함을 잘 모릅니다. 상실을 통해 우리는 우리가 상실한 것과 상실한 대상의 소중함을 깨닫게 됩니다. 상실은 아주 고통스러운 경험입니다. 사랑하는 사람을 상실하고, 소중히 여겼던 건강이나 재물을 상실했을 때 그 고통은 큽니다. 그런 까닭에 상실한 것을 회복했을 때 그 기쁨은 말로 표현할 수 없는 기쁨이 됩니다. 사랑하는 예수님을 십자가에서 상실했던 여인들과 제자들이 부활하신 주님을 만났을 때 경험한 기쁨은 정말 큰 기쁨이었습니다.

둘째, 승리의 기쁨입니다. 제자들과 사람들은 십자가에서 모든 것이 끝났다고 생각했습니다. 제자들은 실패감과 패배감과 절망감 속에 빠져 있었습니다. 비전과 소명과 소망을 상실했습니다. 그런데 예수님이 사망 권세를 이기시고 승리하신 것입니다. 부활은 승리의 부활입니다. 제자들은 예수님의 부활을 통해 승리의 기쁨을 만끽했습니다. 그들이 상실했던 비전과 소명과 소망은 회복되었습니다.

셋째, 역전의 기쁨입니다. 십자가에서 예수님은 패배자의 모습이었습니다. 하지만 예수님이 부활하심으로 모든 것이 달라졌습니다. 예수님의 부활의 드라마는 역전의 드라마입니다. 역전의 기쁨은 큰 기쁨입니다. 하나님은 우리가 예수님의 부활을 통해 회복의 기쁨, 승리의 기쁨, 그리고 역전의 기쁨을 경험하기 원하십니다. 우리 함께 부활하신 주님께 영광을 돌리며 기뻐합시다. 부활의 믿음, 부활의 소망을 품고 승리하시길 빕니다.

The Mysterious Joy of The Resurrection

I send you Easter greetings from my home country. Jesus is risen. I am spending my first official sabbatical in my home country after 41 years of immigrant ministry. Our motherland is a really beautiful country. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom. The appearance of magnolia flowers is also beautiful. I feel excited when I step on my motherland. There’s a gene in me that longs for my home country. It's like we all miss our mother's womb. We all grew up in our mothers' wombs. Even when we get older, we often sleep in the posture of a baby in a mother's womb. The motherland is like a mother's womb for all of us. It is like the mother stream (the stream they return to in which they were born) for salmon.

Just like the salmon search for their mother stream to lay their eggs and die, we humans have an instinct in our minds to be homesick. So we miss our motherland. Salmon live in the faraway ocean and seek out their mother stream to lay their eggs. Salmon give up their bodies after laying their eggs in the mother stream. Salmon hatchlings grow by eating the flesh of the mother salmon who gave birth to them. The mother salmon is not dead but lives on through the salmon hatchlings she gives birth to. This is the mystery of death and resurrection. It is to live again through death. We can taste the resurrection of Jesus Christ in our daily lives.

In the cold winter, the tree is naked and uses all its energy to care for its roots. During the cold winter, trees rest and store living water in their roots to supply in the spring. When spring arrives after a cold winter, the living water and nutrients stored in the roots are carried throughout the tree, sprouting and revealing beautiful flowers. The winter tree has become a bare tree and seems to be dead, but it is not dead. It quietly takes care of its roots and comes back to life with green shoots and beautiful flowers when the warm spring arrives.

Jesus repeatedly told his disciples that he would die on the cross and rise again on the third day. They were deeply grieved when they heard the words of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. They were afraid. They focused only on the death of the cross from Jesus' words. Life is about focusing. The disciples were afraid because they focused on Jesus' crucifixion. They did not focus on the promise of Jesus' resurrection. Even when they later heard the news that Jesus is risen, the disciples did not believe in the resurrection of Jesus. “When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it” (Mark 16:11).

The appearance of the disciples is actually ours. We focus our lives on the negative rather than the positive, on the impossible rather than the possible. We live by focusing on doubt and skepticism rather than faith and assurance. But don't be discouraged. When we believe in and experience the resurrection of Jesus, our lives can change. Changes occurred in the lives of the disciples who experienced the resurrection of Jesus and the filling of the Holy Spirit. The focus of the disciples' lives changed. In order for the focus of our lives to change, we must experience the resurrection of Jesus and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Then our lives will experience change.

The joy of Jesus' resurrection is a mysterious joy. When the women who visited the scene of the resurrection heard the news of Jesus' resurrection, their feelings were mysterious. It is an emotion experienced together with fear and great joy. “So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples” (Matthew 28:8). What kind of joy was the great joy experienced by the women who heard the news of Jesus' resurrection?

First, it is the joy of recovery. We don't know the value of something precious until we lose it. Also, we don't know how precious someone is until we lose someone precious. Through loss, we realize the value of something and someone we lost. Loss is a very painful experience. The pain is great when you lose a loved one, health, or wealth that you cherished. For that reason, when you recover what you have lost, the joy becomes an indescribable joy. The joy that the women who lost their beloved Jesus on the cross and the disciples experienced when they met the resurrected Lord was a great joy.

Second, it is the joy of victory. The disciples and the people thought that everything was over on the cross. The disciples were in a sense of failure, defeat, and despair. They lost their vision, calling, and hopes. However, Jesus overcame the power of death and was victorious. Resurrection is the resurrection of victory. The disciples enjoyed the joy of victory through the resurrection of Jesus. The vision, calling, and hope they had lost were restored.

Third, it is the joy of reversal. On the cross, Jesus lost. But with the resurrection of Jesus, everything changed. The drama of Jesus' resurrection is a drama of reversal. The joy of reversal is great joy. God wants us to experience the joy of recovery, the joy of victory, and the joy of reversal through the resurrection of Jesus. Let us rejoice and give glory to the risen Lord together. May you have victory with the faith of resurrection and the hope of resurrection.
