꿈은 하나님의 축복의 재료입니다!

하나님은 복을 주시는 분입니다. 하나님이 천지를 창조하신 후에 만드신 모든 피조물들에게 복을 주셨습니다(창 1:22). 또한 하나님의 형상대로 남자와 여자를 창조하신 후에 그들에게 복을 주셨습니다(창 1:28). 하나님이 아브라함을 부르셨을 때 그에게 복을 주셨습니다. 하나님이 어떤 사람에게 또는 어떤 민족에게 복을 주실 때 꿈을 통해 복을 주십니다. 꿈은 하나님의 축복의 재료입니다. 하나님이 누군가를 축복하려고 할 때 먼저 그에게 꿈을 주십니다. 하나님이 아브라함을 만나서 그에게 베풀어 주신 복이 그의 꿈이 되었습니다.

꿈은 힘든 현실보다 더욱 아름다운 미래를 의미합니다. 그런 면에서 꿈은 미래에 이루어질 것을 바라보며 상상하는 것입니다. 꿈의 언어는 상상의 언어입니다. 꿈을 표현한다는 것은 장차 이루어질 것을 상상의 언어로 표현하는 것입니다. 하나님이 아브라함에게 복을 주실 때 꿈의 언어를 통해 복을 주셨습니다. 하나님은 그에게 장차 새로운 땅을 얻게 될 것과 큰 민족을 이루게 될 꿈을 심어주셨습니다. 또한 장차 그로 말미암아 모든 족속이 복을 받을 것이라는 축복의 언약을 주셨습니다(창 12:1-3). 아브라함은 하나님의 축복의 언약을 믿고, 그 언약을 따라 꿈을 꾸고, 그 언약을 따라 순종했습니다.

성경에는 하나님이 주신 꿈을 성취한 사람들의 이야기로 가득 차 있습니다. 그 중에 대표적인 인물이 요셉입니다. 그의 별명은 “꿈꾸는 자”였습니다. 요셉이 아버지의 심부름 때문에 도단에서 형제들을 만났을 때, 형제들이 그를 향해 “서로 이르되 꿈꾸는 자가 오는 도다”(창 37:19)라고 말했습니다. 요셉은 그가 꾼 꿈 때문에 형제들의 미움을 받고 애굽으로 팔려갑니다. 하지만 하나님은 요셉을 그가 꾼 꿈을 통해 축복하셨습니다. 하나님은 어떻게 꿈을 통해 우리를 축복하실까요?

첫째, 하나님은 꿈을 통해 새로운 미래에 도전케 하십니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 현실에 안주하지 않습니다. 꿈을 꾸면 미래를 향해 도전하고 모험을 하게 됩니다. 우리는 모험을 통해 새로운 미래를 창조합니다. 하나님은 요셉이 그의 꿈을 성취할 수 있도록 애굽이라는 새로운 땅에 종으로 팔려가게 하십니다. 요셉은 고난의 수레를 타고 그의 꿈을 성취할 땅으로 들어가게 됩니다.

둘째, 하나님은 꿈을 통해 좋은 만남을 주선해 주십니다. 모든 만남이 좋은 것은 아닙니다. 가장 좋은 만남은 하나님의 꿈과 연결된 만남입니다. 하나님의 꿈을 성취할 수 있도록 도와주는 만남입니다. 요셉이 애굽에 내려갔을 때 하나님은 그의 꿈을 성취할 수 있도록 보디발을 만나게 해 주셨습니다. 또한 술맡은 관원장을 통해 바로 왕을 만나게 해 주셨습니다. 인생은 만남입니다. 좋은 만남을 위해 기도하십시오. 좋은 만남을 통해 배우고 성장하십시오.

셋째, 하나님은 꿈을 통해 미래를 준비케 하십니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 늘 학습합니다. 우리는 학습을 통해 미래를 준비합니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 머무는 곳에서 최선을 다하면서 또 다른 미래를 준비합니다. 요셉은 보디발의 집의 가정총무로 최선을 다해 일하는 중에 애굽의 언어와 문화와 정치를 배우고 익혔습니다. 그는 주어진 상황을 원망하거나 불평하지 않았습니다. 그는 주어진 상황에서 늘 미래를 준비했던 사람입니다. 하나님의 기회와 그의 준비가 만났을 때 하나님의 꿈은 성취되었습니다.

넷째, 하나님은 꿈을 통해 시련을 극복하게 하십니다. 유혹을 물리치게 하십니다. 요셉은 그가 성취해야 할 꿈이 있었기에 보디발의 아내의 유혹을 이겨냈습니다. 또한 모든 시련을 극복했습니다. 꿈꾸는 사람은 시련을 두려워하지 않습니다. 오히려 시련의 쓴 잔을 마시면서 성장합니다. 시련을 통해 더욱 거룩해 집니다. 더욱 지혜로워집니다. 더욱 깊어집니다.

다섯째, 하나님은 꿈을 통해 목표에 집중하는 삶을 살게 하십니다. 노력만 한다고 꿈이 성취되는 것이 아닙니다. 하나님이 주신 꿈을 성취할 수 있는 목표에 집중할 때 꿈이 성취됩니다. 꿈꾸는 사람에게 자극이 필요합니다. 하지만 그 자극은 꿈꾸는 사람의 재능과 은사 그리고 목표에 적합할 때 도움이 됩니다.

하나님이 주시는 꿈은 야망과 다릅니다. 하나님이 주시는 꿈은 이기적이 아니라 이타적입니다. 하나님이 주시는 꿈은 가정을 세우는 꿈입니다. 교회를 세우는 꿈입니다. 영혼을 구원하는 꿈입니다. 선교하는 꿈입니다. 하나님의 나라를 확장하는 꿈입니다. 사람을 키우고 사람을 세우고 사람을 남기는 꿈입니다. 어려운 이웃을 섬기는 꿈입니다. 꿈꾸는 것을 포기하지 마십시오. 시련을 이겨내십시오. 학습하는 것을 멈추지 마십시오. 하나님은 꿈꾸는 사람에게 은혜와 지혜와 능력을 부어 주십니다. 하나님은 꿈꾸는 사람에게 복이 늘 따라다니게 하십니다.

Dreams are the Ingredients for God’s Blessings!

God is the One who blesses. After God created the heaven and earth, He blessed all the creatures that He made. (Genesis 1:22) He also blessed them after he created man and woman in the image of God. (Genesis 1:28) When God called Abraham, He blessed him. When God blesses either a man or a nation, He blesses through dreams. Dreams are the ingredients for God’s blessings. When God wants to bless someone, He first gives him or her a dream. The blessing that God had given Abraham, after meeting him, became his dream.

A dream signifies a more beautiful future than the hard reality. In that sense, dreaming is to look and imagine the things that will happen in the future. A language of dreams is a language of imagination. To express dreams is to express what will eventually be done in the language of imagination. When God blessed Abraham, He blessed him with the language of dreams. God planted in him a dream to obtain a new land and to become a great nation in the future. Also, He gave him a covenant of blessing that all peoples on earth will be blessed through him in the future. (Genesis 12:1-3)//// Abraham believed in the covenant of God’s blessing, dreamed according to the covenant, and obeyed according to the covenant.

The Bible is full of stories of those who have fulfilled the dreams that God has given them. Joseph is a good character that represents this. His nickname was “Dreamer”. When Joseph met his brothers in Dothan because of his father’s errand, the brothers said to him, “Here comes that dreamer!” (Genesis 37:19) Joseph was hated by his brothers and was sold to Egypt because of his dreams. But God blessed Joseph through his dreams. How does God bless us through dreams?

First, God allows us to challenge new futures through dreams. A dreamer does not settle for the status quo. If you dream, you will have a challenge and have an adventure for your future. We create a new future through adventures. God allowed Joseph to be sold as a slave in a new land called Egypt to fulfill his dreams. Joseph rode on the wagon of affliction and entered the land to fulfill his dreams.

Second, God arranges a good encounter through dreams. Not all encounters are good. The best encounter is related to God’s dream. It is an encounter that helps us to fulfill God’s dream. When Joseph went down to Egypt, God allowed him to meet Potiphar to fulfill his dreams. He also allowed Joseph to meet king Pharaoh through the chief cupbearer. Life is full of encounters. Pray for good encounters. Learn and grow through good encounters.

Third, God allows us to prepare for the future through dreams. Dreamers are always people of learning. We can prepare for the future through learning. The dreamer prepares for another future while doing his best at where he stays. Joseph learned and mastered the language, culture, and politics of Egypt while he was doing his best as the family secretary of Potiphar’s house. He did not grumble or complain about the given situation. He always prepared for the future in his given situation. When God’s opportunity met with Joseph’s preparation, God’s dream was fulfilled.

Fourth, God allows us to overcome trials through dreams. He allows us to defeat temptation. Joseph was able to overcome the temptation of Potiphar’s wife because he had a dream to fulfill. He also overcame all the trials. Dreamers do not fear trials. Rather, they grow as they drink the bitter cups of trials. They become more sanctified through trials. They become wiser. They become deeper.

Fifth, God allows us to live a life that focuses on goals through dreams. Dreams are not accomplished by effort alone. Dreams are accomplished when we focus on the goals, to achieve God-given dreams. Dreamers need stimulation. But the stimulus is helpful when it fits into the dreamers’ talents, gifts and goals.

God’s dream is different from ambition. God’s dream is not selfish but selfless. God’s dream is to build up a family. It is a dream to build up a church. It is a dream to save souls. It is a dream to go on missions. It is a dream to expand the kingdom of God. It is a dream to raise and appoint people, and to leave them in the world. It is a dream to serve unfortunate neighbors. Do not stop dreaming. Overcome your trials. Do not stop learning. God pours his grace, wisdom, and power onto dreamers. God makes sure that blessings always follow the dreamer.
