[목회서신] 깨어짐에서 풍성함으로 (2019.4.28)

깨어짐은 신비로운 축복입니다. 깨어짐을 통해 풍성함에 이르게 됩니다. 깨어짐이 없이는 풍성한 열매를 맺을 수 없습니다. 예수님은 “한 알의 밀이 땅에 떨어져 죽지 아니하면 한 알 그대로 있고 죽으면 많은 열매를 맺느니라”(요 12:24)고 말씀하셨습니다. 이 말씀을 하신 예수님은 한 알의 밀이 되어 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하셨습니다. 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으시고 부활하심으로 부활의 첫 열매가 되셨습니다(고전 15:20). “첫 열매”는 그 뒤를 이어 수많은 열매를 맺게 된다는 것을 의미합니다.

한 알이 밀이 죽는다는 것은 망가지는 것이 아니라 깨어짐을 의미합니다. 깨어짐은 씨앗의 껍질이 벗겨지는 경험입니다. 깨어짐은 벗겨짐입니다. 씨앗의 생명은 껍질에 있는 것이 아니라 씨눈에 있습니다. 껍질이 벗겨질 때 씨앗 속에 감춰진 생명이 흘러나와 싹을 틔우고, 꽃을 피우고, 풍성한 열매를 맺게 됩니다. 씨앗이 땅에 떨어져 심겨질 때 어두운 땅속에서 깨어지는 경험을 하게 됩니다. 씨앗이 열매를 맺기 위해서는 반드시 깨어져야 합니다. 깨어지지 않았다면 심기운 것이 아니라 매장된 것입니다. 매장(埋藏)은 감추어 두는 것입니다. 파종(播種)은 씨를 뿌리는 것입니다. 파종을 통한 깨어짐은 죽음처럼 경험되어지는 아픔입니다(고전 15:36). 하지만 죽음처럼 아프고 위험한 깨어짐을 통해, 씨앗은 풍성한 열매를 맺게 됩니다.

깨어짐은 열림입니다. 깨어질 때 씨앗이 열리고 씨앗 속에 감춰진 생명이 흘러나오게 됩니다. 생명이 흘러나온다는 것은 씨앗 속에 감춰진 잠재력이 흘러나오는 것을 의미합니다. 하나님의 깨뜨리심은 감춰진 잠재력을 열어주시는 것을 의미합니다. 하나님이 예수님을 십자가에서 깨뜨리셨습니다. 그리함으로 예수님의 몸이 열려, 피와 물이 쏟아져 나왔습니다(요 19:34). 예수님의 피와 물은 우리 죄를 씻는 거룩한 영생수입니다. 예수님의 살은 우리에게 영생을 주시는 생명의 떡입니다(요 6:51). 깨어진 예수님의 몸에서 부활의 생명이 흘러나온 것입니다. 깨어짐은 끝이 아니라 새로운 시작입니다. 깨어짐의 끝자락에서 새로운 문이 열립니다.

예수님의 깨어짐은 으깨어짐을 의미합니다. 예수님은 최후의 만찬 석상에서 제자들에게 떡과 잔을 나누어 주셨습니다. 예수님이 나누어 주신 잔은 포도주 잔이었습니다. 예수님은 그 잔을 나누어 주시면서 “이것은 죄 사함을 얻게 하려고 많은 사람을 위하여 흘리는바 나의 피 곧 언약의 피니라”(마 26:28)고 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 포도나무이십니다(요 15:1). 포도가 포도즙이 되고, 포도즙이 포도주가 되기 위해서는 포도주 틀에서 으깨어져야 합니다. 사람들은 포도를 풍성히 수확한 후에, 포도주 틀에 넣고 포도를 발로 밟아 으깹니다. 예수님은 십자가에서 사람들에게 밟히고 으깨어지는 경험을 하셨습니다. 사람들은 예수님을 주먹으로 때리고 채찍질하고 가시 면류관을 씌우고 갈대로 머리를 쳤습니다(마 26:67, 27:28-42). 예수님은 으깨어지심을 통해 포도주를 보혈로 만들어 주신 것입니다. 이것은 성스러운 비유입니다.

예수님이 부활하고 승천하신 후에 제자들과 우리에게 성령님을 충만히 부어 주셨습니다. 성경은 성령 하나님을 기름으로 비유합니다. 성령 하나님은 기름 부으심으로 역사하십니다(행 10:38; 고후 1:21; 요일 2:27). 구약시대 성전에서 사용했던 성유(聖油)는 감람열매에서 나온 기름입니다. 지금 우리가 사용하고 있는 올리브기름입니다. 또한 올리브기름은 왕과 제사장과 선지자들에게 기름을 부을 때 사용했던 기름입니다. 감람열매가 감람유가 되기 위해서는 으깨어져야 합니다.

곡식과 포도와 감람열매는 깨어짐과 으깨어짐을 통해 가치가 더해집니다. 깨어진 씨앗은 풍성한 열매를 맺음으로 그 가치가 더해집니다. 그 곡식이 으깨어져서 고운 가루가 되면 하나님께 드리는 소제가 됩니다(레 2:7). 그 고운 가루로 생명을 공급하는 떡이 만들어집니다. 포도가 으깨어지고 발효의 시간을 거치면 가치 있는 포도주가 됩니다. 그 포도주는 제사를 드릴 때 부어 드리는 전제가 됩니다(출 29:40; 딤후 4:6). 으깨어진 감람유는 성막을 밝히는 성유이며, 성전에서 쓰이는 성스러운 기름입니다. 비밀은 감사에 있습니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 떡과 잔을 나누어 주실 때 먼저 감사기도를 드리셨습니다. 그 떡과 잔은 예수님의 살과 피를 의미했습니다(마 26:26-29). 예수님은 깨어지시고 으깨어지실 때 감사기도를 드리셨습니다. 감사는 기적을 창조합니다. 감사는 풍성한 축복을 불러옵니다. 감사는 깨어짐을 풍성함으로 만드는 아름다운 기도입니다.

올해도 많은 분들이 직접 간접으로 선교에 동참하게 됩니다. 선교는 하나님께 받은 풍성한 은혜를 하나님께 올려 드리는 거룩한 제사와 같습니다. 예수님의 깨어지심을 통해 우리가 받은 풍성한 복을, 복음 전도와 사랑으로 열방에 나누는 것이 선교입니다. 하나님이 올해도 풍성한 선교의 열매를 맺도록 도와주시길 기도드립니다. 단기 선교에 직접 간접으로 동참해 주시는 성도님들께 깊은 감사를 드립니다.

From Brokenness to Abundance

Brokenness is a mysterious blessing. Brokenness leads to abundance. You cannot bear abundant fruit without brokenness. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds” (Jn 12:24). Jesus, who said this, became a kernel of wheat, as he died on the cross and was resurrected. Jesus died on the cross and became the first fruit of resurrection (1Co 15:20). "First fruit" means that many fruits will be produced after that.

When a kernel of wheat dies, it is broken, but not destroyed. Brokenness is the experience of the outer layer, peeling off the seeds. Brokenness is the peeling off. The life of the seed is not in the skin but in the embryo. When the skin is peeled, the life hidden in the seed flows out, then it sprouts, blooms, and produces abundant fruits. When the seeds fall down to the ground, they experience brokenness in the dark. Seeds must be broken in order to bear fruit. If they were not broken, they are buried rather than being planted. The burial is to hide. Sowing is planting seeds. Breaking through sowing is a pain experiencing like death (1Co 15:36). But through painful and dangerous brokenness like death, the seeds bear abundant fruit.

Brokenness is an opening. When it breaks, the seed opens and the life hidden inside the seed flows out. The life that is flowed out means that the potential that was hidden in the seed is flowing out. God's brokenness means opening up the hidden potential. God broke Jesus on the cross. By doing so, Jesus' body was opened, and blood and water poured out (Jn 19:34). Jesus' blood and water are holy eternal water that cleanse our sins. Jesus' flesh is the bread of life that gives us eternal life (Jn 6:51). The life of the resurrection has flowed out from the broken body of Jesus. Brokenness is not the end, but a new beginning. A new door opens at the end of the brokenness.

The brokenness of Jesus means to be crushed. Jesus gave bread and a cup to the disciples at the Last Supper. The cup Jesus gave was a cup of wine. Jesus shared the cup and said, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Mt 26:28). Jesus is the vine (Jn 15:1). Grape becomes grape juice, and grape juice must be crushed in a winepress to become wine. After people have harvested grapes, they put them in a winepress and step on the grapes to crush them. Jesus experienced a trampling and crushing by people, on the cross. They struck Jesus with their fists, flogged him, crowned him with the crown of thorns, and struck his head with a reed (Mt 26:67, 27: 28-42). Jesus made the wine to blood through the crushing. This is a sacred metaphor.

After Jesus was resurrected and ascended, he poured out the Holy Spirit to his disciples and to us. The Bible compares the Holy Spirit to the anointing. God the Spirit works by anointing (Ac 10:38; 2Co 1:21; 1Jn 2:27). The holy oil used in the Old Testament temple is the oil from olives. It is the olive oil that we use these days. Also, olive oil is the oil that was used to anoint kings, priests, and prophets. Olives must be crushed to become olive oil.

Grains, grapes and olives add their value by being broken and crushed. Broken seeds add its value by bearing abundant fruits. When the grain is crushed and becomes fine flour, it becomes a grain offering to God (Lev 2:7). Bread that provides life is made with fine flour. When grapes are crushed and fermented, they become valuable wine. The wine becomes a drink offering being poured out, during the sacrifice (Ex 29:40; 2Ti 4:6). The crushed olive oil is the holy oil that lights the tabernacle, and it is the holy oil used in the temple. The secret is in thanksgiving. Jesus offered a prayer of thanksgiving before giving the bread and the cup to the disciples. That bread and cup represented Jesus' flesh and blood (Mt 26:26-29). Jesus offered a prayer of thanksgiving when he was broken and crushed. Thanksgiving creates miracles. Thanksgiving brings abundant blessings. Thanksgiving is a beautiful prayer that makes brokenness into abundance.

This year, many people will participate in missions directly and indirectly. Missions is like a holy sacrifice that brings God's abundant grace to God. It is in mission, to share the rich blessings we received through the brokenness of Jesus with the nations through evangelism with love. I pray that God will help you to bear abundant fruit of missions this year.
