[목회서신] 탁월한 선택을 하는 지혜 (2019.5.19)

선택은 씨앗과 같습니다. 선택을 심으면 선택한 씨앗의 종류를 따라 열매를 맺습니다. 좋은 선택은 좋은 열매를, 나쁜 선택은 나쁜 열매를 맺습니다. 지금 우리의 모습은 우리가 과거에 선택한 것들의 결과입니다. 또한 우리 미래는 지금 우리가 선택한 것들에 의해 결정될 것입니다. 선택은 힘이 셉니다. 작은 선택이지만 그 선택이 끼치게 될 영향력은 예측할 수가 없습니다. 특별히 그 작은 선택을 따라 지속적으로 행동한다면 엄청난 파장을 일으키게 됩니다. 다니엘은 하루에 세 번씩 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 하나님께 감사기도를 드리기로 선택했습니다. 그 선택한 일을 칠십년이 넘게 지속했습니다.

선택이 중요한 까닭은 선택이 우리의 습관을 결정하기 때문입니다. 다니엘의 선택은 하루에 세 번씩 기도하는 습관을 낳았습니다. 항상 하나님만 의지하며 사는 습관을 낳았습니다. 범사에 감사하는 습관을 낳았습니다. 좋은 습관은 좋은 선택에 의해 형성됩니다. 반면에 나쁜 습관은 나쁜 선택에 의해 형성됩니다. 작은 습관 하나를 선택할 때 그 작은 습관이 미래에 끼칠 영향은 아무도 예측할 수 없습니다. 거듭 중요하게 생각해야 할 점은 작은 것의 힘입니다. 왜냐하면 우리 삶의 모든 것이 작은 것에 의해 시작되기 때문입니다.

우리는 하루에도 수많은 선택을 하며 살아갑니다. 무슨 옷을 입을 것인지, 무엇을 먹을 것인지, 누구를 만날 것일지, 무슨 생각을 할 것인지, 무슨 말을 할 것인지를 선택하며 살아갑니다. 어떤 문제가 생기면, 그 문제를 어떻게 해석하고 반응할지를 선택해야 합니다. 또한 어떤 사건이 생기면, 그 사건을 어떻게 해석하고 반응할지를 선택해야 합니다. 어떤 선택은 처음에 별 효력이 없어 보입니다. 하지만 그 선택한 것을 반복하고 지속하게 되면 어느 순간, 놀라운 결과가 나타납니다.

선택은 변화의 촉매제입니다. 새로운 선택은 새로운 변화를 창조합니다. 새로운 선택은 새로운 방향을 정하는 것과 같습니다. 새로운 변화를 원한다면 새로운 선택을 해야 합니다. 같은 사람들을 똑같은 태도로 만나고, 같은 일을 똑같은 방법으로 반복하고 있다면 새로운 변화를 경험할 수 없습니다. 같은 일도 다른 각도, 다른 태도, 다른 방법으로 시도할 때 새로운 변화를 경험할 수 있습니다. 같은 사람도 존중하는 눈으로 바라보고, 그 사람 안에 있는 무한한 잠재력을 신뢰해 줄 때 새로운 변화를 경험할 수 있습니다.

룻이 시어머니를 공경하기로 선택한 것은 작은 선택이었습니다. 하지만 그 작은 선택은 자신 뿐만 아니라 온 인류에게 영향을 끼치는 선택이 되었습니다. 우리는 룻에게서 탁월한 선택의 지혜를 배울 수 있습니다. 그녀는 탁월한 선택을 함으로 풍성한 복을 받은 여인입니다.

첫째, 하나님을 신뢰하는 선택을 하십시오. 룻이 시어머니를 공경하기로 선택한 것은 시어머니의 하나님을 믿은 까닭입니다. 시어머니의 하나님을 경외한 까닭입니다. 하나님을 의심하기보다 하나님을 전적으로 신뢰하는 선택을 하십시오. 의심보다 믿음을 선택하십시오. 의심을 통해 이루어지는 일은 별로 없습니다. 반면에 하나님을 신뢰하는 믿음을 통해 놀라운 일들이 전개 됩니다. 믿음을 통해 기적이 일어납니다. 믿음을 통해 새 역사가 창조됩니다. 믿음을 통해 병이 낫습니다. 믿음을 통해 기도의 능력이 나타납니다. 믿음을 통해 위대한 성취를 하게 됩니다.

둘째, 당장 유익한 것보다는 올바른 길을 선택하십시오. 룻은 당장 유익하진 않아도 올바른 길을 선택하기로 굳게 결심한 여인입니다. 룻의 분별력은 탁월합니다. 탁월한 선택을 하기 위해서는 분별력이 필요합니다. 분별력은 통찰력과 관련되어 있습니다. 통찰력은 핵심을 간파하는 능력입니다. 또한 분별력은 예견력과 관련되어 있습니다. 예견력은 앞을 내다보는 능력입니다. 예견력은 멀리보고 영원의 안목으로 사건을 바라보는 것입니다. 탁월한 분별력을 가진 사람은 우선 유익하고 편안하고 쉬운 길을 선택하지 않습니다. 당장 손해를 보아도 올바른 길, 좁은 길, 그리고 의미 있는 길을 선택합니다. 자신이 원하는 길보다 자신에게 필요한 길을 선택합니다. 자신이 원하는 길보다 하나님이 원하시는 길을 선택합니다.

셋째, 사랑을 선택하십시오. 룻은 시어머니를 사랑했습니다. 사랑했기 때문에 시어머니를 위해 희생했습니다. 사랑한다는 것은 희생한다는 것을 의미합니다. 사랑하는 사람은 사랑하는 대상을 위해 기꺼이 상처를 받습니다. 사랑하는 사람은 사랑하는 대상 앞에서 약해집니다. 이것이 사랑의 신비입니다. 사랑의 역설입니다. 사랑은 약해보이지만 죽음보다 강합니다. 사랑의 결과는 아름답습니다. 사랑의 스토리는 언제나 감동을 줍니다. 사람들의 마음을 움직입니다. 룻의 선택은 복된 미래를 창조하는 탁월한 선택이었습니다. 자신뿐만 아니라 시어머니와 전 인류가 복된 길로 들어설 수 있도록 문을 열어준 선택이었습니다. 탁월한 선택을 통해 희망찬 미래를 맞이하시길 빕니다. 샬롬

Wisdom in Making Excellent Choices

A choice is like a seed. When you plant your choice, you will bear fruit according to the type of choice you planted. Good choices bear good fruit, bad choices bear bad fruit. Where we are today is the result of what we have chosen in the past. Also, our future will be determined by what we choose now. Choices are powerful. Even a small choice has an impact that is unpredictable. Especially if you continuously act upon the same small choices, it will cause a huge wave. Daniel chose to give thanks to God - kneeling and praying three times a day. That choice lasted for over seventy years.

Choice is important because our choice determines our habits. Daniel's choice led him to a habit of praying three times a day. It led him to a habit of relying on God alone, always. It led him to a habit of giving thanks in all circumstances. Good habits are formed by good choices. On the other hand, bad habits are formed by bad choices. When choosing a small habit, no one can predict the impact that the small habit will have in the future. The important thing to think about is the power of small choices that are repeatedly made because everything in our lives begin with small things.

We make a lot of choices every day. We choose what to wear, what to eat, who to meet, what to think, and what to say. If something goes wrong, we must choose how to interpret and respond to the problem. In addition, if an incident occurs, we must choose how to interpret and respond to the incident. Some choices seem to have little effect at first. But when you repeat that choice continuously, at some point, you will get amazing results.

A choice is a catalyst for change. New choices create new changes. A new choice is like setting a new direction. If you want new change, you must make a new choice. If you meet the same people in the same attitude and repeat the same thing in the same way, you will not experience new change. You can experience new changes when you try the same thing at different angles, different attitudes, or in different ways. You can experience new changes when you look at the same person with respectful eyes, and trust in the unlimited potential within that person.

It was a small choice that Ruth made in honoring her mother-in-law. But that little choice was a choice that affected not only herself but all of mankind. We can learn the wisdom of excellent choices from Ruth. She is a woman who was abundantly blessed by making excellent choices.

First, choose to trust God. Ruth chose to honor her mother-in-law because she believed in the God of her mother-in-law. It was because she feared the God of my mother-in-law. Make a choice to trust God, wholly, rather than doubting Him. Choose faith rather than doubt. There is not much fulfilled through doubt. On the other hand, marvelous things unfold through the faith of trusting in God. A miracle happens through faith. A new history is created through faith. Healing happens through faith. Through faith, the power of prayer is revealed. Through faith, we will achieve great accomplishments.

Second, choose the right path rather than the path that will bring immediate benefit. Ruth firmly decided to choose the right path, even if it was not immediately beneficial. Ruth's discretion is excellent. You need discernment to make an excellent choice. Discernment is related to insight. Insight is the ability to detect the essence. Discernment is also related to foresight. Foresight is the ability to look ahead. Foresight is to look further on, at incidents, with the perspective of eternity. People with excellent discernment do not opt for beneficial, comfortable, and easy ways. Even though the person might be at a loss, they choose the right, the narrow, and the meaningful path. They choose the path that is necessary rather than what they want. They choose the path that God wants rather than their own desired path.

Third, choose love. Ruth loved her mother-in-law. She sacrificed for her mother-in-law because she loved her. To love means to sacrifice. Loving people are willingly to be wounded for their beloved. Loving People are weak before their beloved. This is the mystery of love. This is the paradox of love. Love seems weak but stronger than death. The result of love is beautiful. The story of love always touches us. It moves people's hearts. Ruth's choice was an excellent choice to create a blessed future. It was a choice that opened the door to blessing not only for herself but her mother-in-law and mankind. I wish that you will welcome in a wonderful future with excellent choices. Shalom
