[목회서신] 감사하면 열리는 것들 | Things That Open When You Give Thanks
감사하면 하늘 문이 열립니다. 감사는 하늘 문을 여는 열쇠입니다. 예수님은 눈을 들어 하늘을 우러러보시며 감사 기도를 드리신 후에 기적을 행하셨습니다. 감사는 기적의 문을 여는 열쇠입니다. 감사하면 눈이 열려 일상의 삶 속에 하나님이 베푸신 기적을 보게 되고 경험하게 됩니다. 감사는 경이로움을 인해 감탄하는 마음입니다. 우리가 조금만 관찰하면 일상에서 하나님의 영광을 보게 됩니다. 하나님의 섭리를 보게 됩니다. 그래서 감사하면 하늘 문이 열리는 것입니다.
감사하면 기도의 문이 열립니다. 우리는 기도하길 원하지만 기도하는 법을 잘 모릅니다. 기도하는 법 중의 하나는 감사입니다. 감사란 하나님께 받은 것을 받았다고 말하는 것입니다. 감사를 통해 하나님께 받은 은혜를 입술로 표현하는 것입니다. 감사 기도는 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 기도입니다. 감사 기도는 하나님의 마음을 감동시키는 기도입니다. 다니엘의 기도하는 모습을 다시 한 번 상기시켜 드리고 싶습니다. “다니엘이 .... 예루살렘으로 향한 창문을 열고 전에 하던 대로 하루 세 번씩 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 그의 하나님께 감사하였더라”(단 6:10).
감사하면 예배의 문이 열립니다. 하나님의 형상을 따라 지음 받은 인간의 최고의 기쁨은 예배에 있습니다. 저는 제 영혼이 언제 가장 기뻐하는지를 실험해 보았습니다. 제 영혼이 가장 기뻐하는 때는 겸손히 엎드려 하나님을 경배할 때입니다. 엎드림은 하나님을 경배하는 최상의 자세입니다. 몸의 엎드림도 중요하지만, 마음의 엎드림은 더욱 중요합니다. 마음의 엎드림은 겸손한 마음을 의미합니다. 하나님 앞에 겸손히 엎드려 경배할 때 우리 영혼은 기쁨으로 충만해집니다. 감사는 하나님을 영화롭게 하는 예배입니다. “감사로 제사를 드리는 자가 나를 영화롭게 하나니 그의 행위를 옳게 하는 자에게 내가 하나님의 구원을 보이리라”(시 50:23).
감사하면 관계의 문이 열립니다. 좋은 인간관계를 형성하는 비밀은 감사에 있습니다. 감사하면 서로의 마음이 열립니다. 마음이 열리면 마음이 통하게 됩니다. 마음이 열리면 서로를 사랑하게 됩니다. 감사는 서로의 관계를 연결시키는 다리와 같습니다. 벽을 세우는 사람이 있고, 다리를 놓는 사람이 있습니다. 원망은 벽을 세우는 것입니다. 반면에 감사는 다리를 놓는 것입니다. 제사장이란 단어의 원어적 의미는 “다리를 놓는 사람”입니다. 우리는 왕 같은 제사장들입니다(벧후 2:9). 그런 까닭에 우리는 다리를 놓는 사람이 되어야 합니다.
감사하면 좋은 언어의 문이 열립니다. 우리는 자신이 사용하는 언어를 통해 스스로 어떤 사람인가를 보여줍니다. 언어에도 온도가 있고 품격이 있습니다. 우리가 사용하는 언어가 우리의 품격을 보여줍니다. 우리는 하나님의 자녀입니다. 왕의 자녀입니다. 그렇다면 왕가의 품격에 어울리는 언어를 사용해야 합니다. 천국 백성의 언어는 감사입니다. 감사는 감사를 낳습니다. 우리가 사용하는 언어가 우리 영혼의 색깔을 물들입니다. 우리가 감사할 때 우리 영혼은 감사의 색깔로 물들게 됩니다.
감사하면 축복의 문이 열립니다. 하나님은 복을 주시는 분입니다. 하나님은 우리가 하나님의 풍성한 복을 받아 누리길 원하십니다. 하나님의 복을 받아 누리는 길은 감사에 있습니다. 감사는 하나님의 복을 끌어오는 자석과 같습니다. 감사하면 좋은 것들이 찾아옵니다. 감사는 하나님께 받은 복을 세어보는 것입니다. 하나님께 받은 복을 세어보며 감사할 때 하나님은 더욱 좋은 것들로 우리를 만족케 하십니다(시 103:5). 감사하면 나쁘게 여겨지는 사건까지도 좋은 결말을 맺게 되는 것을 경험하게 됩니다(롬 8:28).
감사하면 행복의 문이 열립니다. 감사하는 영혼은 행복한 영혼입니다. 행복이란 선택입니다. 스스로 행복하다고 마음먹으면 행복해집니다. 환경이 행복에 끼치는 영향을 무시할 수는 없습니다. 하지만 에덴동산에서도 아담과 하와는 선악과를 바라보느라 불행했습니다. 그들은 모든 것을 다 소유했지만 선악과에 집착하느라 하나님이 주신 것들을 누리지 못했습니다. 그들은 선악과를 따 먹은 후에 서로를 탓했습니다. 서로를 탓하고 원망하면 행복의 파랑새는 집을 떠납니다. 반면에 우리가 서로 감사하면 집을 떠난 행복의 파랑새가 다시 돌아옵니다. 감사를 통해 하나님이 예비하신 풍성한 복을 누리시길 빕니다.

Things That Open When You Give Thanks
Giving thanks opens the gates of heaven. Gratitude is the key that unlocks the gates of heaven. Jesus lifted up his eyes, looked up to heaven, gave thanks and performed a miracle. Gratitude is the key that unlocks the door to miracles. Gratitude opens our eyes and allows us to see and experience the miracles which God has given us in our daily lives. Gratitude is the feeling of admiration for wonder. If we just observe our surroundings a little, we can easily see the glory of God in our daily life. We will see the providence of God. So, if you give thanks, the gates of heaven will open.
Giving thanks opens the door to prayer. We want to pray, but we don't know how to pray. One of the ways to pray is to give thanks. Giving thanks is saying that you have received what you have received from God. It is to express with your lips the grace you received from God through thanksgiving. A prayer of thanksgiving is a prayer that pleases God. A prayer of thanksgiving is a prayer that moves the heart of God. I want to remind you once again of Daniel's prayer. “Now Daniel went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before” (Daniel 6:10).
Giving thanks opens the door to worship. The greatest joy of man, who was created in the image of God, lies in worship. I've done experiments to see when my soul rejoices the most. My soul rejoices the most when I humbly fall down and worship God. Falling down on your knees is the best posture to worship God. The posture of falling down is important, but falling down in your heart is even more important. Falling down in your heart is to humble yourself. When we fall down before God in humility and worship Him, our souls are filled with joy. Gratitude is worship that glorifies God. “He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God” (Psalm 50:23).
Gratitude opens the door to relationships. The secret to forming good relationships is in gratitude. Gratitude opens each other's hearts. When your heart is open, your heart will come through. If your heart is open, you will love each other. Gratitude is like the bridge that connects each other's relationships. Some build walls and others build bridges. Resentment builds walls. Gratitude, on the other hand, is building a bridge. The original meaning of the word priest is “a bridge-builder.” We are a royal priesthood (2 Peter 2:9). That is why we must be bridge builders.
Gratitude opens the door to good language. We show who we are through the language we use. Language has temperature and dignity. The language we use when we speak shows our dignity. We are children of God. We are the children of the king. Therefore, we must use language that matches the dignity of the royal family. The language of the people of heaven is gratitude. Gratitude produces gratitude. The language we speak colorizes our souls. When we give thanks, our souls are dyed with the color of gratitude.
Gratitude opens the door to blessings. God is the giver. God wants us to receive and enjoy His abundant blessings. The way to receive and enjoy God's blessings is through thanksgiving. Gratitude is like a magnet that draws God's blessings. Thanksgiving brings good things. Gratitude is counting the blessings we have received from God. When we give thanks while counting the blessings we receive from God, God satisfies us with better things (Psalm 103:5). If we give thanks, we experience that even events that are considered bad can have a good ending (Romans 8:28).
Gratitude opens the door to happiness. A grateful soul is a happy soul. Happiness is a choice. If you make up your mind to be happy, you will be happy. The influence of the environment on happiness cannot be ignored. But even in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were unhappy because they looked at the forbidden fruit. They possessed everything, but because they were obsessed with the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they could not enjoy the things God had given them. After they ate the forbidden fruit, they blamed each other. If they blame and resent each other, the blue bird of happiness leaves the house. On the other hand, when we give thanks to each other, the blue bird of happiness that has left home comes back. May you enjoy the abundant blessings God has prepared for you through thanksgiving.
