[목회서신] 문제 속에 담긴 기적의 씨앗 | The Seed of Miracles Contained in Problems

인생은 문제의 연속입니다. 문제가 없는 곳을 찾아가 보고 싶다면 무덤에 가 보십시오. 살아 있다는 것은 문제가 있다는 것입니다. 중요한 것은 문제를 어떻게 보느냐에 따라 문제가 달라집니다. 인생은 거듭 말씀드리지만 해석의 문제입니다. 문제를 어떻게 보고 어떻게 해석하느냐에 따라 많은 것이 달라집니다. 인생 여정에서 저는 수많은 문제를 만났습니다. 문제를 만날 때마다 쉽지 않았습니다. 하지만 돌이켜 보면 문제가 축복이 된 적이 많습니다. 모든 문제가 축복이 되는 것은 아닙니다. 우리가 직면한 문제를 지혜롭게 해석하고 반응할 때 문제가 축복이 됩니다. 제가 그동안 배운 문제 해결의 지혜를 나누고 싶습니다.

첫째, 문제를 긍정적으로 해석하십시오. 문제를 부정적으로 해석하게 되면 문제가 우리를 두렵게 만듭니다. 문제에 압도될 수가 있습니다. 무엇보다 문제 속에 담긴 축복을 보지 못하게 됩니다. 저도 목회 초기에는 문제가 일어날 때마다 문제가 두려웠습니다. 문제가 싫었습니다. 문제가 찾아오면 “또 문제구나”라는 식으로 반응 했습니다. 우리가 문제를 두려워하면 문제에 지게 됩니다. 우리는 두려워하는 대상의 노예가 될 수 있습니다. 그래서 하나님은 우리에게 거듭 “두려워하지 말라. 놀라지 말라.”(수 1:9; 사 41:10)고 말씀하십니다.

더욱 중요한 것은 성경을 읽는 중에 모든 기적은 문제 때문에 임한 것을 깨달은 것이었습니다. 문제가 없으면 기적이 없습니다. 문제가 작으면 기적이 작습니다. 문제가 크면 기적도 큽니다. 성경의 관점으로 본다면 문제는 기적을 창조하는 재료입니다. 문제를 기적을 창조하는 재료라고 생각하면 문제를 두려워할 필요가 없습니다. 오히려 문제를 환영하게 됩니다. 문제가 찾아왔을 때 우리는 그 문제로부터 도피할 수 없습니다. 문제로부터 도피한다고 문제가 해결되는 것이 아닙니다. 문제는 도피함으로 해결되는 것이 아니라 직면함으로 해결됩니다.

둘째, 문제가 찾아오면 문제를 조용히 바라보십시오. 문제가 찾아왔을 때 가장 위험한 것은 문제를 과대평가하는 것입니다. 민수기 13장에 보면 12명의 정탐꾼 가운데 10명의 정탐꾼은 문제를 과장합니다. 가나안 거민은 거인들이며 그들 자신은 메뚜기 같다고 말합니다(민 13:33). 문제는 과장할수록 더욱 커집니다. 그런 까닭에 문제를 조용히 바라보아야 합니다. 문제를 있는 모습 그대로 바라보아야 합니다. 문제를 조용히 바라보면 문제가 있는 모습 그대로 보입니다. 문제를 조용히 바라보면 문제의 원인을 파악하게 됩니다. 또한 문제의 해결책도 떠오르게 됩니다. 중요한 것은 마음의 고요함으로 문제를 바라보는 것입니다. 고요함은 통찰을 낳습니다.

셋째, 문제가 찾아오면 하나님과 함께 문제를 조용히 바라보십시오. 우리의 눈으로 문제를 직면하는 것은 아주 용기 있는 일입니다. 거기서 멈추지 않고 문제를 하나님과 함께 바라보면 전혀 다른 관점으로 문제를 보게 됩니다. 전혀 다른 차원에서 문제를 보게 됩니다. 우리가 직면한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 다른 차원의 생각을 할 수 있어야 합니다. 아인슈타인은 “우리가 당면하고 있는 심각한 문제들은 그것이 야기되었을 때의 사고방식으로 해결되지 않는다.”고 말했습니다. 하나님과 함께 문제를 바라볼 때 전에 결코 생각하지 못했던 문제 해결책이 떠오르게 됩니다.

넷째, 문제가 찾아오면 해결책 중심의 사고를 하십시오. “왜”라는 질문을 짧게 한 후에 “어떻게”라는 질문을 하십시오. 왜 내게 이런 문제가 찾아왔느냐에 대한 질문을 너무 오래하지 마십시오. 문제나 고난은 누구에게나 아무 때나 찾아올 수 있습니다. 예수님은 이 땅에 사시는 동안 수많은 문제에 직면하셨습니다. 또한 엄청난 고난에 직면하셨습니다. 예수님은 문제가 찾아왔을 때 바로 해결책을 찾으셨습니다. 해결책 중심의 사고를 하셨습니다. 문제가 있다면 해결책도 있습니다. 우리가 학교에서 시험을 칠 때 시험 문제를 받습니다. 그 시험 문제는 반드시 답이 있습니다. 우리가 경험하는 문제들도 해결책이 있습니다. 다만 어떤 문제는 해결책을 쉽게 발견할 수 없다는 것입니다. 그래서 우리는 기도해야 합니다.

다섯째, 문제가 찾아오면 하나님께 기도하십시오. 기도를 통해 하나님께 문제를 가지고 나아가십시오. 우리가 문제를 하나님께 가져가면 하나님은 우리 문제를 통해 기적을 창조하십니다. 가나혼인잔치에서 포도주가 떨어졌을 때 예수님의 어머니 마리아가 그 문제를 예수님께 가지고 갔습니다. 그때 예수님은 물로 포도주를 만드는 기적을 베풀어 주셨습니다. 우리가 기도할 때 하나님은 문제를 해결할 수 있는 지혜를 허락해 주십니다. 우리가 기도할 때 우리가 문제를 해결할 수 있도록 도와주는 사람을 만나게 해 주십니다. 문제 속에는 기적의 씨앗이 담겨 있습니다. 그런 까닭에 문제를 두려워하지 말고 하나님을 경외하십시오. 하나님과 함께 문제를 풀어 나가십시오. 문제를 통해 놀라운 기적을 경험하시길 빕니다.

The Seed of Miracles Contained in Problems

Life is a series of problems. If you want to visit a place where there is no problem, you may want to go to the cemetery. To be alive is to have problems. But what matters most is how you view these problems. Life, I repeat, is a matter of interpretation. A lot depends on how you view and interpret these problems. In the journey of my life, I have encountered numerous problems. Every time I encountered a problem, it was not easy. But looking back, there were many times when my problems turned into blessings. Not all problems turn into blessings. Problems become a blessing when we wisely interpret and respond to the problems we face. I would like to share the wisdom of problem solving that I have learned so far.

First, interpret the problem positively. When you interpret a problem negatively, it terrifies you. You can get overwhelmed with problems. Above all, you will not be able to see the blessings contained in your problems. In the early days of my ministry, whenever a problem occurred, I was afraid of it. I didn't like the problem. When a problem came, I responded by saying, “It’s a problem again.” When we fear problems, we lose at the game against them. We can become slaves to what we fear. That is why God tells us over and over again, “Do not be afraid. Do not fear” (Joshua 1:9; Isaiah 41:10).

More importantly, while reading the Bible, I realized that all miracles came because of problems. There are no miracles without problems. If the problem is small, the miracle is small. The bigger the problem, the bigger the miracle. From a biblical point of view, the problem is the ingredient that creates miracles. There is no need to be afraid of problems if you think of them as the ingredient that creates miracles. Rather, you can welcome problems. When problems arise, we cannot escape from them. Running away from our problems does not solve our problems. Problems are not solved by escaping, but by facing them.

Second, when problems arise, look at them quietly. When problems come, the most dangerous thing is to overestimate them. In Numbers 13, ten out of twelve spies exaggerated the matter. They said that the inhabitants of Canaan are like giants, and they are like grasshoppers (Numbers 13:33). The more you exaggerate them the bigger the problems become. That is why we must look at the problem quietly. We must look at the problem as it is. If you look at the problem quietly, you will see your problem as it really is. If you look at your problem quietly, you will discover the cause of the problem. A solution to the problem will also come to mind. The important thing is to look at the problem with a calm mind. Stillness produces insight.

Third, when problems arise, look at them quietly with God. It is very courageous to face problems with our own eyes. If you do not stop there and look at the problem with God, you will see the problem from a completely different point of view. You will see the problem from a completely different level. To solve the problems we face, we need to be able to think on a different level. As Einstein said, "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." When you look at problems with God, you will come up with solutions to problems that you have never thought of before.

Fourth, when problems arise, focus on finding the solution. Keep the “why” question short and then ask the “how” question. Please don't take too long to ask why this problem came to me. Problems and hardships can come to anyone at any time. Jesus faced many problems while he was on this earth. He also faced great hardships. When Jesus encountered a problem, he immediately found a solution. He had a solution-focused mindset. If there is a problem, there is a solution. When we take exams at school, we get exam questions. The exam questions must have an answer. Even the problems we experience have solutions. The only problem is that the solution is not easily found. That is why we must pray.

Fifth, when problems arise, pray to God. Bring your problems to God through prayer. When we bring our problems to God, God creates miracles through our problems. When the wine ran out at the wedding in Cana, Jesus' mother Mary took the matter to Jesus. Then Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine. When we pray, God grants us wisdom to solve problems. When we pray, He allows us to find someone who can help us solve our problems. Problems contain the seeds of miracles. Therefore, do not be afraid of problems, but fear God. Solve problems with God. I hope you experience a wonderful miracle through your problem.
