[목회서신] 배움의 소중함을 아는 지혜 | Wisdom to Know the Value of Learning

배움의 소중함을 아는 사람은 지혜로운 사람입니다. 배움의 소중함을 안다는 것은 배움의 가치를 안다는 것입니다. 배움의 가치를 아는 것이 중요한 까닭은 배움의 가치를 아는 사람만이 배움을 갈망하기 때문입니다. 배움에 헌신하기 때문입니다. 배운다는 것은 결코 쉬운 것이 아닙니다. 배우기 위해서는 시간을 만들어야 합니다. 훈련을 받아야 합니다. 배운 것을 실천해야 합니다. 잘 배우기 위해서는 배운 것이 우리 존재의 한 부분이 될 때까지 반복해서 익히고 또 익혀야 합니다. 마치 새가 나는 법을 배우기 위해 반복해서 날개 짓을 하는 것과 같습니다.

배움을 소중히 여기기 위해서는 왜 배워야 하는지를 거듭 질문해야 합니다. 배워야 하는 이유를 많이 발견할수록 우리는 배움에 가치를 부여하게 됩니다. 배움의 이유란 배움을 통해 누릴 수 있는 혜택과 같습니다. 조금 깊이 생각해 보면 배움을 통해 누릴 수 있는 혜택은 정말 많습니다.

우리는 배움을 통해 성장하게 됩니다. 배움이 소중한 까닭은 배움을 통해 자라기 때문입니다. 배움은 성장을 낳습니다. 배움을 멈추면 성장이 멈추게 됩니다. 성장이 멈추면 더 이상 영향력을 발휘할 수 없습니다. 그래서 우리는 평생 배워야 하고, 지속적으로 성장해야 합니다. 성장한다는 것은 자란다는 것입니다. 곡식이 자라고 무르익는 것처럼, 나무가 자라 거목이 되는 것처럼 배움은 자라는 것입니다. 예수님의 어릴 적 성장하는 모습을 성경은 다음과 같이 기록하고 있습니다. “예수는 지혜와 키가 자라가며 하나님과 사람에게 더욱 사랑스러워 가시더라”(눅 2:52).

배움을 통해 지식이 자랍니다. 지식이 자란다는 것은 지성이 개발되는 것을 의미합니다. 배움을 통해 지혜가 자랍니다. 지혜는 분별력과 통찰력과 예견력을 의미합니다. 지혜가 자라면 지혜가 점점 충만하게 됩니다. 배움을 통해 영성이 깊어집니다. 배움을 통해 인격이 자랍니다. 배움을 통해 좋은 관계를 맺게 됩니다. 배움을 통해 믿음이 자랍니다(살후 1:3). 배움을 통해 사랑스런 사람이 됩니다. 예수님은 하나님과 사람에게 더욱 사랑스러워 가셨습니다(눅 2:52하). 배움을 통해 탁월함의 경지에 이를 수 있습니다. 이스라엘 백성들은 말씀을 통해 지식과 지혜를 배워 큰 나라 큰 백성이 되었습니다(신 4:6).

배움을 통해 우리는 새로운 세계 속으로 들어가게 됩니다. 새로운 주제를 배운다는 것은, 새 주제가 전개해 줄 새로운 세계 속으로 들어가는 것입니다. 배움을 통해 우리는 새로운 만남을 갖게 됩니다. 우리가 책을 읽는다는 것은 책의 저자와 만나는 것입니다. 책의 저자와 만나 그의 가르침을 받고 그와 더불어 교제하는 것입니다.

배움을 통해 우리는 새로운 차원으로 들어가게 됩니다. 모든 영역에는 다양한 차원이 있고 더 깊고 더 높은 차원이 있습니다. 좋은 만남과 새로운 배움은 우리를 다양한 차원의 세계로 이끌어 줍니다. 또한 우리를 더 깊고 더 높은 차원으로 이끌어 줍니다. 걷는 것과 말을 타는 것은 차원이 다릅니다. 말을 타는 것과 차를 타는 것은 차원이 다릅니다. 차를 타는 것과 비행기를 타는 것은 차원이 다릅니다. 비행기를 타는 것과 우주선을 타는 것은 차원이 다릅니다. 그와 같이 우리는 배움을 통해 이전에 경험하지 못했던 새로운 차원으로 들어가게 됩니다. 특별히 배움을 통해 우리는 깊은 영의 세계 속으로 들어가게 됩니다. 보이는 세계를 넘어 보이지 않는 세계로 들어가게 됩니다. 현실 세계에서 영원한 세계 속으로 들어가게 됩니다.

배움을 통해 변화하고 성숙하게 됩니다. 변화하고 성숙한다는 것은 예수님을 닮아간다는 것을 의미합니다. 예수님의 제자들의 궁극적 목표는 예수님의 인격을 닮아가는 것입니다(고후 3:18; 롬 8:29). 예수님처럼 잃어버린 영혼을 찾아 그들을 구원의 길로 인도하는 것입니다. “인자가 온 것은 잃어버린 자를 찾아 구원하려 함이니라”(눅 19:10). 예수님의 제자들의 궁극적 목표는 예수님처럼 제자들을 양육하고 키우고 남기는 것입니다. 예수님의 제자들의 궁극적 목표는 하나님이 맡기신 사명을 완수하는 것입니다(요 17:4; 행 20:24).

배울 때 중요한 것은 올바로 배우는 것입니다. 앤드류 머레이는 “올바로 배워야 올바로 자랍니다.”라고 말했습니다. 올바로 배운다는 것은 기본을 잘 배우는 것입니다. 거듭 기본으로 돌아가 기본을 다질 줄 아는 사람이 올바로 배운 사람입니다. 기본은 건물의 기초와 같습니다. 기초가 견고하면 건물을 높이 짓는 것이 가능해집니다. 그리스도인의 기초는 예수님이십니다(고전 3:11). 기본이 잘되어 있는 사람의 미래는 밝습니다. 그 이유는 기본이 잘되어 있는 사람은 지속적으로 발전하고 성장할 수 있기 때문입니다. 잘 배우는 지혜 중의 하나는 다른 사람을 양육해 보는 것입니다. 우리는 배운 것을 나눔으로 더욱 잘 배우게 됩니다. 배운 것을 나눔으로 배운 것을 체계화할 수 있습니다. 배움의 소중함을 거듭 기억하십시오. 올바로 배우기를 힘쓰도록 하십시오. 거듭 기본을 다지십시오. 기본을 다지는 중에 탁월함의 경지에 이르도록 하십시오. 배움을 통해 예수님의 장성한 분량에 이르도록 하십시오(엡 4:13).

Wisdom to Know the Value of Learning

A wise person knows the importance of learning. Knowing the importance of learning means knowing the value of learning. Knowing the value of learning is important because only those who know the value of learning desire to learn. Because they are dedicated to learning. Learning is never easy. You need to make time to learn. You must be trained. You must put practice into what you learn. To learn well, we must learn it repeatedly until it becomes a part of our being. It's like a bird flapping its wings over and over again as it learns to fly.

To value learning, we must ask again and again why we learn. The more we discover why we need to learn, the more we put value into learning. The reasons for learning are the same as the benefits of learning. If you think about it a little deeper, there are many benefits of learning.

We grow through learning. Learning is valuable because we grow through learning. Learning leads to growth. When you stop learning, you stop growing. When growing stops, you can no longer impact others. So, we must constantly learn throughout our lives. To grow is to develop. Just as a grain grows and ripens, and just as a tree grows into a giant tree, it is so as learning is to grow. The Bible records the growth of Jesus as a child. “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke 2:52).

Our knowledge grows through learning. Growing knowledge means developing intellect. Our wisdom grows through learning. Wisdom means discernment, insight, and foresight. As wisdom grows, wisdom becomes more and more full. Our spirituality deepens through learning. Our character grows through learning. Learning makes good relationships. Our faith grows through learning (2 Thessalonians 1:3). We become through learning. Jesus became more loving to God and man (Luke 2:52b). Learning can lead to a state of excellence. The Israelites learned knowledge and wisdom through the Word and became a great nation and people (Deuteronomy 4:6).

Through learning, we enter into a new world. To learn a new subject is to enter into a new world where the new subject will unfold. Through learning, we make new encounters. When we read a book, we meet the author of the book. We meet the author of the book as we receiving his teachings, and fellowship with him.

Through learning, we enter a new dimension. Every realm has different dimensions, deeper and higher. Good encounters and new learning lead us to a world of various dimensions. It also takes us to a deeper and higher dimension. Walking and riding a horse are two different things. Riding a horse and riding a car are two different things. Riding a car and flying a plane are two different things. There's a difference between flying in an airplane and flying a spaceship. In the same way, through learning, we enter a new dimension that we have never experienced before. In particular, through learning, we enter the deep world of the spirit. We go beyond the visible world and into the invisible world. We will enter the eternal world from the real world.

Through learning, you change and mature. Changing and maturing means becoming more like Jesus. The ultimate goal of the disciples of Jesus is to imitate the person of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29). Like Jesus, it is to find lost souls and lead them to the path of salvation. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). The ultimate goal of the disciples of Jesus is to nurture, raise, and appoint their disciples as Jesus did. The ultimate goal of the disciples of Jesus is to fulfill the mission God has entrusted to them (John 17:4; Acts 20:24).

When it comes to learning, the important thing is to learn properly. Andrew Murray once said, “You must learn properly to grow properly.” To learn properly is to learn the basics well. Those who can go back to the basics over and over again and learn the basics are those who have learned properly. The basics are like the foundations of a building. A strong foundation makes it possible to build taller. The foundation of a Christian is Jesus (1 Corinthians 3:11). The future is bright for people with good basics. The reason is because people with good basics can continue to develop and grow. One of the best wisdom to learn is to nurture others. We learn better by sharing what we learn. We can learn more systematically by sharing what we have learned. Remember the importance of learning over and over again. Strive to learn properly. Repeat the basics. Get to the point of excellence while building the basics. Learn to reach the full measure of Jesus (Ephesians 4:13).
