[목회서신] 성탄 속에 숨겨진 하나님의 지혜 | The Wisdom of God Hidden in Christmas

성탄 속에는 하나님의 지혜가 담겨 있습니다. 예수님은 하나님의 오랜 기다림 속에 태어나셨습니다. 예수님은 작은 아이로 태어나셨습니다. 구유 위에 태어나셨습니다. 예수님은 가난한 목수의 집에 태어나셨습니다. 예수님이 태어나심으로 인류 역사는 새롭게 시작되었습니다. 우리가 사용하고 있는 달력이 날마다 예수님의 탄생을 증명하고 있습니다. 예수님이 오심으로 역사는 예수님 오시기 전과 오신 후로 구분되었습니다. 인류의 역사는 곧 예수님의 역사입니다. 저는 성탄을 묵상하는 중에 성탄 속에 담긴 하나님의 지혜를 깨닫게 되었습니다. 하나님은 지혜의 하나님이십니다. 하나님이 하시는 일 속에는 우연은 없고 섭리만 있을 뿐입니다. 예수님의 탄생을 묵상하는 중에 깨달은 하나님의 지혜를 몇 가지 나누고 싶습니다.

첫째, 때를 기다리시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 하나님은 예수님을 이 땅에 보내시기 위해 적합한 때를 기다리셨습니다. 하나님은 서두르지 않으십니다. 조급해하지 않으십니다. 하나님은 기다리십니다. 하나님은 때가 찼을 때 예수님을 여인의 몸에서 태어나게 하셨습니다. “때가 차매 하나님이 그 아들을 보내사 여자에게서 나게 하시고”(갈 4:4). 때가 찼다는 의미는 여인이 아이를 잉태한 후에 10개월을 꽉 채운 때를 의미합니다. 암탉이 달걀을 품에 안고 21일을 꽉 채운 때를 의미합니다. 지혜는 기다림에 있습니다. 가장 적합한 때를 분별하는 데 있습니다. 지혜로운 사람은 가장 적합한 때를 분별할 줄 아는 사람입니다.

둘째, 자신을 은밀히 감추시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 하나님이 독생자를 이 땅에 보내실 때 은밀히 보내셨습니다. 만민을 구원할 구세주가 마구간에서 은밀히 태어나실 것을 누가 알았겠습니까? 하나님의 지혜는 감추시는 지혜입니다. 하나님의 지혜 속에 비밀이 담겨 있습니다. 하나님은 그분의 비밀을 오랫동안 감추셨습니다. 하나님의 비밀은 우리 안에 계신 예수 그리스도이십니다. “하나님이 그들로 하여금 이 비밀의 영광이 이방인 가운데 얼마나 풍성한지를 알게 하려 하심이라 이 비밀은 너희 안에 계신 그리스도시니 곧 영광의 소망이니라”(골 1:27). 지혜로운 사람은 자신을 감출 줄 아는 사람입니다. 무엇이든 너무 드러나면 공격을 받게 됩니다.

셋째, 조용히 시작하시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 예수님이 태어나신 밤은 고요한 밤이었습니다. 우리가 좋아하는 성탄 찬양 중에 “고요한 밤 거룩한 밤(109장)”이 있습니다. 하나님은 시끄러운 것을 싫어하십니다. 하나님은 조용한 것을 좋아하십니다. 조용히 시작하시는 것을 좋아하십니다. 예수님께서 탄생하실 때 하늘의 천군 천사가 찬양했습니다. 하지만 이 땅은 조용했습니다. 하나님은 크고 위대한 일을 조용히 시작하십니다. 무슨 일을 할 때 조용히 시작하는 것이 지혜입니다.

넷째, 작게 시작하시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 예수님은 작은 아이로 태어나셨습니다. 한 알의 작은 밀알처럼 태어나셨습니다. 첫 번째 아담은 처음부터 어른이었습니다. 하와도 처음부터 어른이었습니다. 하지만 두 번째 아담이신 예수님은 작은 아이로 태어나셔서 서서히 성장하셨습니다. 하나님의 비밀은 작은 것 속에 담겨 있습니다. 예수님은 천국을 비유로 설명하실 때 겨자씨의 비유를 통해 말씀하셨습니다. 작은 것 속에 거대한 잠재력이 담겨 있습니다. 지혜로운 사람은 작은 것 속에 담긴 잠재력을 볼 줄 압니다. 지혜로운 사람은 작은 것을 결코 소홀히 하지 않습니다. 작은 씨앗 속에 큰 나무가 담겨 있습니다. 거대한 숲이 담겨 있습니다.

다섯째, 낮은 곳에서 시작하시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 예수님은 자신을 낮추셨습니다. “사람의 모양으로 나타나사 자기를 낮추시고”(빌 2:8상). 예수님은 자신을 낮추셔서 구유에 태어나셨습니다. 자신을 낮추셔서 십자가까지 내려가셨습니다. 예수님은 자신을 낮추셔서 음부까지 내려가셨습니다. 예수님은 자신을 낮추심으로 우리를 구원하셨습니다. 자신을 낮출 줄 아는 것이 지혜입니다. 자신을 낮추는 겸손이 지혜입니다.

마지막으로 평범하게 시작하시는 하나님의 지혜입니다. 예수님은 평범한 어린아이로 태어나셨습니다. 목수의 가정에 태어나셨습니다. 예수님은 하나님의 아들이십니다. 천지를 창조하신 창조주이십니다. 왕 중의 왕이십니다. 하지만 예수님은 평범한 목수의 집에 태어나셔서 목수로 생활하셨습니다. 지혜는 평범함을 소중히 여기는 것입니다. 평범함 속에 하나님의 비범함이 담긴 것을 깨닫는 것입니다. 하나님은 평범한 사람들을 선택하셔서 위대한 하나님의 자녀로 삼으십니다. 성탄 속에 담긴 하나님의 지혜를 삶 속에 적용하십시오. 기다리는 것이 지혜입니다. 감출 줄 아는 것이 지혜입니다. 조용히 시작하는 것이 지혜입니다. 작은 것을 소중히 여기는 것이 지혜입니다. 낮은 데 처할 줄 아는 겸손이 지혜입니다. 평범한 일상을 소중히 여기는 것이 지혜입니다. 성탄을 통해 가르쳐 주시는 하나님의 지혜를 적용함으로 풍성한 복을 누리시길 빕니다.

The Wisdom of God Hidden in Christmas

Christmas contains the wisdom of God. Jesus was born in God's long waiting. Jesus was born as a little child. He was born in a manger. Jesus was born into a poor carpenter's house. With the birth of Jesus, human history began anew. The calendar we are using proves the birth of Jesus every day. With the coming of Jesus, history was divided into before and after Jesus’ coming. The history of mankind is the history of Jesus. While meditating on Christmas, I came to realize the wisdom of God contained in Christmas. God is a God of wisdom. There are no coincidences in God's work, only providence. I would like to share some of the wisdom of God that I realized while meditating on the birth of Jesus.

First, waiting for the right time is the wisdom of God. God waited for the right time to send Jesus to this earth. God is not in a hurry. He doesn’t haste. God waits. When the time had fully come, God allowed Jesus to be born through the body of a woman. “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law,” (Galatians 4:4). Fulfillment means when a woman has a full nine months after conception of her child. It refers to the time when the hen has a full 21 days with eggs in her arms. Wisdom lies in waiting. It lies in discerning the right time. A wise person is someone who knows how to discern the right time.

Second, the wisdom of hiding oneself is the wisdom of God. When God sent his only begotten son to this earth, he sent him in secret. Who would have known that the Savior who would save all peoples would be secretly born in a manger? God's wisdom is a hidden wisdom. There are secrets in the wisdom of God. God hid His secrets for a longtime. Jesus Christ, who is in us, is the secret of God. “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). A wise person is one who knows how to hide himself. Whatever it is, if it is too exposed or easy to see, it will be easily attacked.

Third, beginning quietly is the wisdom of God. Jesus was born on a silent night. One of our favorite Christmas hymns is “Silent Night, Holy Night” (Ch. 109). God hates loud noises. God likes the quiet. He likes to start quietly. When Jesus was born, the heavenly angels praised him. But the land was quiet. God quietly begins huge and great things. It is wise to start quietly when doing something.

Fourth, beginning small is the wisdom of God. Jesus was born as a small child. He was born like a tiny grain of wheat. The first Adam was an adult from the beginning. Eve was also an adult from the beginning. But Jesus, the second Adam, was born as a small child and grew up slowly. God's secret is contained in small things. When Jesus explained the kingdom of heaven through parables, he spoke through the parable of the mustard seed. There is great potential in small things. A wise person can see the potential in the little things. A wise person never neglects the little things. A small seed contains a large tree. It contains a huge forest.

Fifth, beginning from a lowly place is the wisdom of God. Jesus humbled himself. “And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself...” (Philippians 2:8). Jesus humbled himself and was born in a manger. He humbled himself and went down to the cross. Jesus humbled himself and went down to hell. Jesus saved us by humbling himself. It is wisdom that Jesus knew how to humble himself. Humility to humble yourself is wisdom.

Lastly, beginning with the ordinary is the wisdom of God. Jesus was born as an ordinary little child. He was born into a carpenter's family. Jesus is the Son of God. He is the Creator who created the heavens and the earth. He is the King of Kings. But Jesus was born into an ordinary carpenter's house and lived as a carpenter. Wisdom lies in cherishing the ordinary. It is to realize that God's extraordinary is contained in the ordinary. God chooses ordinary people and makes them great children of God. Apply the wisdom of God that is in Christmas toy our life. Waiting is wisdom. Knowing how to hide is wisdom. It is wisdom to begin quietly. It is wisdom to cherish the little things. Wisdom is the humility that knows how to be lowly. It is wisdom to cherish ordinary life. May you enjoy abundant blessings by applying the wisdom of God taught through Christmas.
